On October 18, Ordesa´s national park forest had a great surprise in store after an exhausting long 27km hike and over 2000mt total elevation gain.
The last 7km along the winding down path were trully rewarding. The magic of outumn was there present with the beauty of nature´s withering and decaying to finally die in the bossom of the Earth. The veil of evening´s sun light impregnated colours and contours. We, human beings become now more sentive to what mysteriously is taking place and live this season interiously too. Cosmic forces will silently start to work to bring us a new explosion of life. A rebirth very much expected for all human beings on Earth

October is the month when one of the world’s most famous and expensive spices is harvested in Spain.

In the pistil of the flower whose Latin name is Crocus Sativus Linnaeus are 3 stigmas of a deep red color. These are what we know as saffron, an undisputed protagonist among the spices used in Mediterranean cooking.

Although its origins are not clear, saffron is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia some 4,000 years ago. Its cultivation was widely known long before Christ in Asia Minor. It was mentioned by Egyptians and used by Cleopatra and pharaohs as an aphrodisiac.

The Pyrenees run 500 km from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and form the physical border between France and Spain. The generally cooler, greener, rainier and steeper northern valleys are mostly in France while the southern slopes in Spain offer a sunnier, warmer climate and more varied terrain. The result is incredible diversity in fauna, flora and options for hikes. Over the past weeks, while waiting for overseas visitors to be allowed to return, we've been continuing to explore the Central Pyrenees, our local mountain paradise, preparing new routes and re-discovering old ones. We can't wait to see show you!

It is not about ideas, it is about making ideas happen, it is about perseverance.

One of the best ways to stay away from the summer heat is to go up into the mountains... And so we did yesterday! After an hour of hiking in a cool and magic beech forest we moved into the high pastures where horses, cattle and sheep were grazing in the swirling fog. Along the trail we kept seeing and admiring flowers such as irises, fleur de lis, rhododendron and many others.
At about 2,350 m we reached a lake, it was so inviting that we did not think twice and hopped for a quick envigorating swim in the icy pristine waters!!!

The amount of flowers in the Spanish Pyrenees is fantastic ... Junko Tabei, the first woman to climb Mt. Everest once said that she had never seen anywhere else the enormous variety of flowers she had seen in the Spanish Pyrenees. While hiking along one of the stages of the trail that links Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea to Anayet lakes (2,227m), there were Welsh poppies, orchids, rhododendron and many other little wild flowers. Not demanding in terms of difficulty this is one of the many exhilarating hikes waiting for you

Lockdown is slowly being phased out, and although we can't yet receive international visitors (or even those from other regions of our own country), we CAN get out to our beloved local mountains to explore new routes and refresh our memories on others🙂. We can't wait to show you!
