Do you know the Camino’s special rituals? 🐚

If you’ve walked the Camino, you’ve probably also experienced some of the rituals, customs and traditions that make the journey so special 💫

Maybe you’ve left a stone at Cruz de Ferro, experienced the Botafumeiro in the cathedral in Santiago, hugged the statue of Saint James, walked a stage in silence, or left a little note, stone or symbol along the route? 🪨

There are quite a few very special and really nice rituals. Let us know how many of these you have experienced? 👇🏻

1️⃣ Received your Compostela in Santiago
2️⃣ Attended the Pilgrim’s Mass
3️⃣ Seen the Botafumeiro swing through the cathedral ⛪
4️⃣ Hugged the statue of Saint James
5️⃣ Left a stone at Cruz de Ferro
6️⃣ Left a message or symbol along the way
7️⃣ Walked a stage in silence
8️⃣ Had a drink from the Wine Fountain in Irache 🍷
9️⃣ Taken part in a purification ritual
🔟 Met or stayed with a volunteer hospitalero

One thing most people forget before their Camino… 👀

It’s not just your hiking boots and backpack that matter. The right gear can make your Camino more comfortable, more enjoyable – and even a little safer. When you’re walking many kilometres every day, it’s often the small details that make a big difference.

One thing worth thinking about is visibility – especially if you’re walking early in the morning, later in the day, or along stretches where you share the road with traffic 💡

That’s why we’re so happy to have teamed up with Safe & Shine ⭐️

Safe & Shine has created gear designed to make you more visible, helping you feel a little safer on the way – without compromising your Camino style. And the best part? You can grab 20% off all Safe & Shine products with the code SPAINISMORE.

So when you’re packing for your next Camino, remember the small things that can make a big difference along the way 🥾

Hi, it’s me, Judit. I came on here to say hi 👋🏼💚

By the time you arrive at your first hotel, ready to start your Camino, there’s already been quite a bit of work behind the scenes to make sure everything is ready for your trip 🗺️

And that’s where I come in 🙋🏻‍♀️ Behind every Camino is a team making sure all the pieces fall into place – so you can simply enjoy the journey 💚

I work with reservations, invoicing and coordination from our office in León, helping to make sure that hotels, transfers and all the practical details of your trip are in place.

But when the computer is switched off, you’ll most likely find me outdoors ☀️ I especially love the Camino del Norte. Where else can you walk from green mountains to dramatic coastlines, with great Spanish food waiting for you along the way? If you haven’t been there, you’re definitely missing out! 🌊⛰️🥘

I’m curious to hear – which Camino have you walked? 🥾

A recommendation for our Danish clients for the weekend ☀️

The tv channel DR has created its own take on gastronomy in northern Spain – or, more precisely, what they call the backyard of the Camino 🥘 Expect unusual experiences, local delicacies, and inspiration from places that many tourists never get to discover 📺

This is what one of our travellers say about us 💚

One of the greatest joys of what we do is hearing from our travellers after they return home. When someone takes the time to send us a message and share how their Camino journey became an unforgettable experience, it truly means the world to us 🙏🏻

A recent message from one of our travellers:

“I just wanted to thank you for making our trip an unforgettable experience. Your company was wonderful! Everything from the accommodations to transportation to recommendations were all excellent. We made lasting memories and had so much fun.”

“I would definitely recommend Spain is More to anyone doing the Camino and will use your company again in any future travel plans for myself.”

~ Carmen Stahl

These words remind us why we love what we do — helping travellers experience the Camino with confidence, comfort and unforgettable memories. 🇪🇸✨

A once-in-a-lifetime moment on the Camino 🌑

On 12 August 2026, a total solar eclipse will cross Northern Spain, turning daylight into darkness for up to two minutes as the Moon completely covers the Sun ✨
If you're travelling through Northern Spain or walking the Camino, this is an experience you won't want to miss.

But here's the interesting part…
Two pilgrims walking the same Camino route could have completely different experiences, simply because they are a few kilometres apart.
That's why your exact location matters ☝🏼

🥾 Camino Inglés
The Camino Inglés is one of the most special Camino routes for experiencing the eclipse. Both starting points, Ferrol and A Coruña, are within the path of totality and will be among the first Camino locations to experience it.
🌑 Ferrol: approximately 63 seconds of totality
🌑 A Coruña: approximately 76 seconds of totality
The eclipse will begin at around 7:30 PM, with totality later in the evening.

🥾 Camino Primitivo
Oviedo, the starting point of the Camino Primitivo, will also be in the path of totality. Here, totality is expected to last close to two minutes, with the landscape suddenly disappearing into darkness.
Imagine finishing your Camino day and watching the sky change completely around you 🌑

🥾 Camino Francés
The path of totality will cross sections of the Camino Francés through Galicia, Castilla y León and La Rioja.
And there's something quite remarkable about this: while pilgrims are making their way west towards Santiago, the Moon's shadow will be travelling east across Spain.

🥾 Camino del Norte
The Camino del Norte will also offer opportunities to experience totality, particularly in parts of Cantabria and the Basque Country. But further east, including areas around San Sebastián, the eclipse will be partial.

👉🏼 So if you're walking the Camino on 12 August, don't just check your route. Check your exact location 📍

Find an open spot with a clear view towards the western horizon, arrive early and give yourself time to experience the changing light. And most importantly, always use certified solar eclipse glasses 👓🌑✨

Are you in Santiago de Compostela today or over the next few days? Then you’re in for a treat! 🇪🇸🤩

July 24 is El Día Grande – the eve of St. James’ Day – when Santiago de Compostela comes alive with celebrations. Plaza del Obradoiro and the rest of the city are filled with concerts, a festive atmosphere, and a spectacular fireworks display late in the evening. ✨🎆

If you’re in Santiago on July 25, don’t miss the city’s biggest celebration: St. James’ Day, when Santiago honours its patron saint with festivities, music, and solemn religious ceremonies. 🥳

Are you joining the celebrations? We’d love to see your photos! Tag us Spain is More so we can all enjoy the incredible atmosphere together.

Buen Camino! 💚🥾
