They are a way of remembering who we are.

In Logroño, San Mateo has always carried something deeply connected to the land.

The harvest.
The first grapes.
The first must.
The beginning of a new w**e year.

Traditionally, these days marked the end of the harvest — a moment to celebrate the work of the vineyard and everything that comes after it. And although the rhythm of the harvest has changed over time, this year we have something special to celebrate.

The harvest and San Mateo meet once again. Perhaps that is what makes traditions so meaningful. They bring us back to the land, to our roots, to the people and rituals that have shaped Logroño for generations.

Because Rioja is not only about w**e. It brings together memories, people, celebrations and the traditions that give this land its identity.
Today, as San Mateo comes to an end, we raise a glass to that connection.

To the harvest. To the first must. To Logroño. And to the traditions that keep Rioja alive. 🍇🍷

En Logroño, San Mateo siempre ha estado profundamente ligado a la tierra.

Tradicionalmente, estas fechas marcaban el final de la vendimia, un momento para celebrar el trabajo de las viñas y todo lo que está por venir. Y aunque el ritmo de la vendimia ha cambiado con los años, este San Mateo nos deja algo especial que celebrar.

Este año, la vendimia y San Mateo vuelven a encontrarse. Quizá eso es lo que hace que las tradiciones tengan tanto valor: nos devuelven a la tierra, a nuestras raíces, a las personas y a esos rituales que han dado forma a Logroño durante generaciones.

Porque Rioja no es solo vino. Rioja es recuerdos, personas, celebraciones y tradiciones que dan identidad a esta tierra.

🍇 Rioja became Spain’s first DOCa in 1991.

🌍 The region is made up of three distinct w**e-growing areas, each shaped by its own combination of landscape, altitude, soils and climate.

Tempranillo Blanco originated from a natural mutation of Tempranillo Tinto, discovered in an old vineyard in La Rioja in 1988.

From Viñaspre, Roberto creates a w**e that speaks clearly of its soil: a texture he compares to the great w**es of Barolo, with a pronounced yet refined tannin, beautifully measured alcohol, and a structure that comes from the land rather than from oak.

Desde Viñaspre, Roberto elabora un vino que expresa con claridad su suelo: una textura que él mismo compara con la de los grandes vinos de Barolo, con un tanino frontal pero elegante, un alcohol perfectamente medido y una estructura que nace de la tierra, no de la madera.

Un ensamblaje con protagonismo del Tempranillo y crianza en hormigón, dejando que el carácter del viñedo permanezca en primer plano.

Laguardia is beautiful in the way that asks you to look twice.

Its quiet streets, stone walls, hidden corners, and extraordinary views across the vineyards reveal a Rioja shaped by centuries of w**e, history, and life.

But places like this deserve more than a walk through them.

They deserve to be understood.

Because a local expert knows where to pause, what lies behind a doorway, which vineyard tells the story of the landscape, and the details that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

That is when a visit becomes something more.

🇺🇸: Before the w**e reaches the glass, there is a much longer story to understand.

It begins with the land.

With the composition of the soil, its minerals, its texture, and everything beneath the surface that quietly shapes the vine. But terroir is never just geography.

There is also the hand of the grower.

The decisions made throughout the year. The way the vineyard is understood, cared for, and allowed to express itself.

And eventually, all of those choices arrive in the glass.

That is one of the things I look for when designing a w**e tour: helping you connect what you taste with where it comes from.

Because mineral character, landscape, soil, and human knowledge are not separate stories.

They are all part of the same w**e.

And understanding them is one of the most beautiful ways to understand Rioja.

🇪🇸: Antes de llegar a la copa, el vino tiene una historia mucho más profunda.

Todo comienza en la tierra.

En la composición del suelo, en sus minerales, en su textura y en todo aquello que ocurre bajo nuestros pies y que, silenciosamente, da forma a la viña. Pero el terroir nunca es solo geografía.

También está la mano del agricultor.

The vineyards are changing rhythm.

The first white grapes are already being picked, and soon the vineyards across Rioja will come alive with one of the most important moments of the w**e year.

We experienced the beginning of this season during a private w**e journey through Ysios Winery qnd Bodegas Marqués de Riscal witnessing the first steps of the harvest from the vineyard to the cellar.

Because there is something different about tasting Rioja when you have just seen where that w**e begins.

The landscape feels closer. The work becomes visible. And every glass carries a little more meaning.

Harvest is not simply a season to visit Rioja.It is a moment to understand it.

And perhaps, the most beautiful time to discover where the w**e truly begins. 🍇

Los viñedos empiezan a cambiar de ritmo.

Las primeras uvas blancas ya se recogen y, poco a poco, toda Rioja se prepara para uno de los momentos más importantes del año del vino.

Nosotros vivimos el comienzo de esta temporada durante un w**e tour privado por Ysios y Marqués de Riscal, viendo de cerca cómo empieza a transformarse la uva desde la viña hasta la bodega.

Porque hay algo diferente en catar un Rioja cuando acabas de ver dónde comienza.

El paisaje se comprende de otra manera. El trabajo se hace visible. Y cada copa adquiere un significado diferente.

La vendimia no es simplemente una época para visitar Rioja.

There are the names everyone knows, of course.

But my attention is often drawn to another Rioja: family-run w**eries, young growers, independent w**emakers and those quiet projects where the connection to the land comes before everything else.

People who know their vineyards by heart. Families carrying knowledge from one generation to the next.

Young hands choosing to stay, create, and give their own voice to this land.

Knowing these w**eries is only part of the work.

Understanding the territory, the people behind each project and what makes each one different is what allows me to choose the right experience for you.

Because not every w**ery speaks to every traveler.

That is where a private, tailor-made journey makes all the difference: knowing where to take you, and why.

And sometimes, the most meaningful door is the one you never knew was there.
