✈️⚠️ Ryanair passengers, attention!
Starting August 15, a large-scale strike will begin in Spain by ground handling staff servicing Ryanair flights. Unfortunately, this isn’t just a short-term protest — the strikes are planned to continue weekly until the end of the year, taking place on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
This news caught my attention — and I’m sharing it so you can be prepared in advance.
📍 What does this mean in practice?
On the mentioned days, delays and flight cancellations may occur at airports, as the staff of Azul Handling will be on strike. They are responsible for:
– passenger check-in
– baggage loading
– aircraft refueling
– cabin cleaning
In other words — without them, the plane isn’t going anywhere 🤪
📍 When disruptions are expected:
– from 05:00 to 09:00
– from 12:00 to 15:00
– from 21:00 to 23:59
📍 Where:
Airports in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Málaga, Ibiza, Seville, Palma de Mallorca, Girona, Tenerife South, Santiago, and Lanzarote.
🟡 What can you do to avoid getting stuck at the airport?
✅ Enable notifications from Ryanair (SMS/email).
✅ Check your flight status in the app before leaving home.
✅ On strike days — call the airport or the airline’s hotline.
Also — allow for extra time if you have connecting flights or post-arrival transfers.
The information in this post is based on reports from Spanish media.
It concerns a strike by Azul Handling staff — the ground crew servicing Ryanair flights in Spain.
Ryanair hasn’t officially announced this, as these workers are not directly employed by the airline.
However, the strike may affect Ryanair flights, especially check-in, fueling, and baggage services.
👉 So be sure to check your flight status in advance on the Ryanair app or website.
💬 Share this info with anyone you know who’s traveling — better safe than sleeping on an airport floor with your suitcase as a pillow.
