Rapid covid test centers set up in 15 Spanish airports to facilitate travel and avoid quarantines
Malaga airport to open Covid clinic to facilitate travel
Malaga Airport has been chosen to be one of the 15 most popular airports in Spain to receive a specially built Covid test center in its departure area to help expats and tourists return home more easily.
The owners of Aena Airport have announced that the busy Costa del Sol airport will be among those, including Madrid Barajas Airport, which will benefit from the new clinics, which will be built expressly to facilitate travel outside Spain, possibly avoiding quarantines in the countries of origin of arriving passengers.
The clinic will be located in the departures area of the airport and will see tests performed primarily on passengers who will need to show them at their destination airport, saving travelers from having to spend part of their vacation location clinics to have tests carried out.
Aena said:
“This service will help facilitate the return of tourists to their country. Currently, to access an airport to perform these tests, it will be necessary to have a boarding pass, as access is limited to passengers.
The company said it had awarded the contract to provide the airport tests to UTE Recoletas-Arquimea-Lagben-GTT health clinic, which "offered the most competitive price for the tests". Aena assured that all tests administered will "comply with current health regulations and approved by the Ministry of Health."
Other Spanish airports that will benefit from the new clinics are expected to include Alicante-Elche, Valencia, Seville and Palma de Mallorca.
The Malaga Airport clinic will benefit from waiting, testing and isolation areas and it is hoped it will help travel to countries of origin while Covid restrictions are in place.
