🍸 From Lloret de Mar to Havana, with a shaker and soul.

Not everyone knows that the famous Daiquiri—served frozen, crisp, and perfectly balanced—has deep Catalan roots.

The man behind the modern frozen Daiquiri was Constantí Ribalaigua Vert, born in Lloret de Mar in 1888. After moving to Havana, he began working at El Floridita bar, eventually becoming its owner in 1918.

Using one of the first electric blenders on the island, Constante (as he was known in Cuba) gave the classic Daiquiri a chilled, velvety twist that became legend.

Among his most loyal fans? Ernest Hemingway, who called his version of the cocktail “like skiing down a glacier covered in powder snow.”

A century later, this story still connects two coasts—Costa Brava and the Caribbean—through one iconic drink.
