📍Early doors heads-up on the Zombie Night 24th August
▶️The latest beach report from Turismo Mijas is showing 'few jelly fish' so do take care as the hot weather continues and check their page daily.

The hottest day of the year so far in the Malaga province was reached last week.

📍Heads up peeps lots going on ...
1️⃣ Tomorrow 4th Aug until 11th Aug the World Padel Tour comes to and the market/feria ground is the location with the temporary stadium. More details ➡️ https://www.worldpadeltour.com/torneos/
NB. Parking will be even more challenging than usual
2️⃣ Sunday 4th Aug - La playa del Nanet (not far from the tower) is hosting the 3rd Volley Ball tournament.
3️⃣ Again on Sunday 4th is the last night of the Summer Bazaar with gastronomic food and drink in the main Boulevard

🥳🎪🎠🎉 2019 starts tonight!

The Gran Cabalgata (parade) will start approx 7.30pm from the Boulevard and wind it's way through the streets
📌The first day Miercoles - DÍA ESPECIAL DEL NIÑO has special prices where rides for children are 2€ per ride.
⚠️The music and general noise will be reduced from 7pm - 9pm to allow everyone of all ages, who find sudden noises upsetting, to enjoy a visit to the Feria ground without concern.

📌On Wednesday & Thursday (Jueves) the Feria main ground (where the market is normally) is where all the action takes place, and then on Friday (Viernes) the Day time Feria by the Tower starts, which also has a selection of events.

After the Day time Feria (FERIA DE DÍA) at around 8pm the activities continue at the Caseta Munipal on the main feria ground.

NB. We cannot see mention of a horse parade as part of the Feria program, but if we hear anything we will let you know. However the first day/eve is when they are most likely to appear!

📌Tonight from 8pm sees the celebration of the Virgen del Carmen. The procession normally finishes by travelling toward the sea down Calle Torremolinos, travels along the paseo a short distance toward the Tower and then into the sea.
➡️ There are a variety of Street, Ecological and Night Markets, so check the images for details.
➡️ Thursday sees the ceremony to announce the official Feria Poster - this will be held in front of the town hall
➡️ Fridays and Saturdays during July and August there are free activities for youngsters on the beach by the Tower.

It's 🔥 San Juan is all about changes. It is about night and day; fire and water. Fire purifies and water recuperates, refreshes, and rejuvenates.
⚠️ Please take care, not only tonight, but also tomorrow morning when walking on the sand.
📍The Tower is the central location in La Cala when the live music starts at 10pm and of course the traditional burning of ‘júas’ from midnight, followed by washing your faces and feet in the sea three times in order to be granted three wishes and for a happy twelve months thereafter.
Pace yourselves for a long night, lots of food & drink and don't forget a jumper as it can get nippy.
🔥Some of the chiringuitos along the paseo heading away from the Tower toward Torrenueva will also have events on as well, notably Chiringuito Los Moreno

📍The Sardine cooking competition is well under way in the central car park area by Café Boulevard La Cala De Mijas. The girls are not competing today sadly, but are open as usual. 👍 Thanks to Carla Mann from La Cala Travel for the sardine pics
➡️Stage 3 of the Vuelta Andalucia MBT race is taking place in the mountains behind Mijas toward Alhaurin el Grande

📍The draw has been made for the 2nd II International Charity Futbol Tournament.
Taking place on the 1st June this ⚽️Tournament has been organized by La Cala de Mijas Lions, the Sports and Mijas Foreigners Department - frd in collaboration with the Málaga CF Support group Peña Dinamarca.
This time 6 local teams : 🇪🇸 Spain - 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England - 🇩🇪 Germany - Denmark 🇩🇰 - Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Finland 🇫🇮 of veterans players will take part in this Tournament which will take place on the 1st of June at 7pm at the Futbol Ground in La Cala de Mijas - Stalls with food and drinks and also Live TV Screens to see the Europe Cup

➡️ On Monday 20th May there is a talk at the town hall from 6pm about a new scheme for power supplies for electric cars

📣Heads-up for tomorrow and next week
The area around the main market/feria ground will be busy on Sunday 12th May due to two events taking place nearby.
📍 'On your Bike' (roughly translated 😂) It's actually 'Mijas - better by bike' but you get the gist. It's a health & environment initiative where you can join others to go on a one hour cycle around the La Cala area. The registration starts at 10.30am and departure at 11am. Take plenty of water, wear a t-shirt and helmet and take your repair kit - sound advice 😎
📍 The final of the Andalucian Rythmic Gymnastics competition is also taking place at the sport stadium from 10am on Av. Sierra las Nieves (the road between Aldi and Mercadona)
📍 Next Friday 17th May starts the 3 day Festival de Espeteros Andaluces - a serious sardine cooking competition with a top prize of 1000€. Location: Plaza de Supersol near the Boulevard Time: 1pm to 10pm. There will be other gastronomic delights & beverages, according to the article in Mijas Semanal
Or you could rendezvous at one of our favourites spots Café Boulevard La Cala De Mijas where they have started their summer opening hours - "The Cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 6pm with food served till 4pm and Saturday 10 to 4pm with food served till 3pm.
The Internet is open Monday to Friday from 9 to 4pm and Saturday from 10 to 4pm."

⚠️Tomorrow is Día del Trabajador aka Labour Day and a Bank Holiday.
📌In La Cala it is marked with our traditional event from 12.30pm when over 600kg of sardines will be cooked on the beach and distributed for free - there will be long queues so be prepared. There are also other food & beverage options available to purchase along with free entertainment for all ages.
Mercadona is closed all day, but Supersol will be open for a short period.
Coming up on Friday there is a great opportunity to enjoy a fabulous curry at Sai Indian Restaurant and raise money for Asociación Knitted Knockers Costa del Sol in association with Business 1st

Later on in the month on 20th May the La Cala de Mijas Lions host their annual Fashion Show & Spring Fayre at the Tamisa Golf

Coming up in the next 7 days we have ...
📌Saturday 27th is "Mijas Day" at Tivolli World in Benalmádena. Residents of Mijas can get free access to the park (terms and conditions apply)
📌Sunday 28th is the PAD Spring Fair (Protectora de Animales Domésticos de Mijas Costa - P.A.D) from 11am in front of the La Cala Town Hall.
📌Wednesday 1st May from 12.30 is the Sardine Festival aka Labour Day in the Plaza del Torreón in La Cala.
600kg of sardines will be cooked and distributed for free to those attending. It is a 30 year tradition in La Cala. There will be live entertainment, lots of dancing and some free activities for the children. You can also visit the other food and beer tents if you wish to purchase something other than 'espetos'.
