Every year a group of intrepid adventurers walk coast to coast for local charities 3 days, rough terrain, over the highest point on Gran Canaria

Supported by local businesses since 2012, 100% of the donations collected from the public are used to support grass roots community projects.

In Arguineguín, The Food Project (Proyecto Vecinal de Alimentos de Mogán Nabohjelpen) are our primary beneficiary.

They feed hundreds in real need, every week, but also act as a community hub, providing donated clothes, shoes, furniture and other necessities, as well as advocacy, advice and even access to a professional social worker. Food is how they begin, everybody has to eat.

The Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria triathlon sporting event will take place on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

"This also means restricted access to various locations, as well as road closures on GC-500 during this major annual event. The restrictions take place between 06:00 and 14:00.
The GC-500 highway will be closed to vehicle traffic between the little square of La V***a ravine – Anfi del Mar area, kilometre 30.7 – and the Taurito ravine, kilometre 42.8."

Just a heads-up... The Canary Islands Government officially declared a Coastal Alert starting Thursday, April 9th, at 08:00.

While the weather might look beautiful, the ocean is going to be very powerful over the next few days.

You just need to be aware, and careful. Take note of any red/yellow flags, remember call 112 in an emergency

What’s happening?

Big Swells: We are expecting waves to the northwest of between 5 and 6 meters high (that’s up to 20 feet!).

Where:

This affects all of Gran Canaria, as well as our neighboring islands.

When:

The alert is active now and is expected to last through Friday.

Tips to stay safe (especially for visitors):

The sea can be unpredictable, even if it looks "calm" for a moment.

Please keep these official recommendations in mind:

📸 Skip the "Storm Selfie": Please do not go to the end of piers, breakwaters, or rocky outcrops to take photos or videos. A "freak wave" can sweep over these areas without warning.

🚩 Follow the Flags: If you see a Red Flag on the beach, do not enter the water. If there are no lifeguards present, please be extra cautious.

🚗 Park Smart: Avoid parking your car on roads very close to the shoreline or in areas where waves might wash over the sea wall.
🎣 No Fishing: It’s best to skip fishing from the rocks until the swell dies down.

⛵ Secure Boats: If you have a boat in the harbor, ensure your moorings are secure.

In case of emergency:

If you see someone in trouble or find yourself in a dangerous situation, call 1-1-2 immediately. It is the free emergency number and they have operators who speak multiple languages.

La Concejalía de Mercadillos informa que, debido a la alerta por vientos decretada por la Dirección General de Emergencias del Gobierno de Canarias, queda suspendido el Mercadillo Municipal de Playa de Mogán previsto para este viernes.

➡ En Gran Canaria se prevén rachas de hasta 80 km/h, que incidirán con mayor intensidad en las vertientes sureste y suroeste, así como en las zonas de medianías orientadas al sur.

The Department of Markets informs that, due to the wind alert issued by the Directorate General for Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Playa de Mogán Municipal Market scheduled for this Friday has been cancelled.

➡ In Gran Canaria, gusts of up to 80 km/h are forecast, with greater intensity expected on the south-east and south-west slopes, as well as in mid-altitude areas facing south.
