Meditation Beyond Stillness: Part 1
On Dhyana, listening & everyday presence
Many people quietly believe they are failing at meditation. The mind wanders, the body feels uncomfortable, stillness feels impossible.
For years, I believed meditation meant sitting perfectly still with a quiet mind, and if I could not achieve that, I assumed I was doing something wrong.
What I did not understand at the time was that perhaps meditation is not always something we force ourselves into. Sometimes, it is something we unexpectedly fall into.
This week’s paid reflection explores meditation beyond stillness, introducing the yogic understanding of Dhyana — meditative awareness, moments where attention naturally gathers, and why presence sometimes arrives in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
