palma's cathedral, known as la seu, stands as a beacon of gothic architecture by night. its sandstone walls and flying buttresses are illuminated, casting a golden glow over the still waters. this majestic structure reflects not just on the surface of the water, but in the heart of mallorca's history, culture, and spirituality. built on the site of a former mosque, the cathedral's construction began in the 13th century and continued for centuries, allowing a blend of styles and the hands of many architects, including the famous antoni gaudí, to grace its form. at night, its presence is both haunting and serene, a watchful guardian over the city's slumbering streets.
