This is the message you hope for when you’ve helped plan someone’s big adventure 🥹🇨🇦

“Overall a fantastic service and the trip we’d all hoped for. I am recommending Rio to everyone I know and will definitely be using her again.”

The brief: three weeks in Canada with two teenagers. Cities, coast, mountains and plenty of things they wanted to fit in.

Alongside the exciting bits, we worked through the practical ones - the route, internal flights, car hire, beds and even laundry. Because three weeks of family washing doesn’t magically disappear on holiday 😂

Seeing their photos afterwards, and hearing it was the trip they’d hoped for, makes me very happy.

A Disneyland Paris birthday trip ✨🏰

Amy wanted to take her family of four for her daughter’s birthday, with two days in the parks.

But there was one particularly important part of the brief:

everyone needed to get some sleep.

Rather than putting four people into one hotel room and hoping for the best, I looked for somewhere that gave them two separate sleeping spaces and landed on Staycity Apartments.

Then we added their two days of Disneyland Paris tickets and the important bits were sorted.

This is probably my favourite part of planning travel for someone else. It’s not just finding a hotel. It’s finding the option that works for your actual family. So everyone gets a holiday.

World Tourism Day feels like a good excuse to say what I actually love about travel.

It’s not collecting countries or finding the most Instagrammable hotel.

It’s eating something you can’t pronounce. Hearing your children talk about that one thing for months afterwards. Sitting somewhere completely ordinary in another country and thinking, God, I’m glad we came.

And sometimes it’s just getting away from the washing pile for a week 😂

The best trips aren’t necessarily the fanciest ones. They’re the ones that give you something you didn’t have before you went.

A memory. A story. A new favourite place. A bit of perspective.

Two rules I use to plan every holiday. Most people skip them and wonder why their trip didn’t quite work.
✈️ Rule 1: Forget “goals.” Define your non-negotiables.
Vague goals (“a beach”, “somewhere relaxing”) lead to the wrong booking 80% of the time. Non-negotiables are sharper.
Real ones from real clients: → “A pool I can actually swim in, not freezing.” → “Direct flight or no deal.” → “Kids’ club so we can eat ONE meal alone.” → “Lift in the building. Non-negotiable.”
Three non-negotiables is all you need. Everything else flexes.
🗺 Rule 2: Build a flexible framework, not a fixed itinerary.
The best holidays = anchor points + breathing room. Two things booked. Everything else decided on the day. Hour-by-hour plans are why people come home more tired than when they left.
