🍷🏃‍♂️ Wine Run Lanzarote
An unforgettable birthday trail!

Yesterday we joined the legendary Wine Run and what an experience! 👟🌋

We took an early bus to La Geria, the heart of Lanzarote’s wine region, and started our 12.5 km trail towards Uga.

First the runners, then the walkers.
My husband ran his very first trail run and on his birthday!

The course is beautiful but challenging: rolling hills, 200 meters of elevation, and soft volcanic gravel (called ruffo) that feels a bit like running on sand.

The atmosphere?
Amazing! 🎶🍇
Along the way, local musicians played and wine tastings were offered (though we saved those for the finish 😉).

Even a camel joined the journey! 🐪

After 1h35 of trail running, we arrived in Uga where the party was in full swing: live music, tapas, and the best wines from La Geria.
Our favorite: Bermejo Seco paired with tasty bites from El Niño.

We’ll definitely be back next year.

🎣 Birthday Catch of a Lifetime!

Yesterday, Frank celebrated his pré birthday ‘on Friday 13th’ in true island style, out at sea with Emile from Fishing Tribe Lanzarote .

Emile is originally from the Netherlands, lives on Lanzarote, and knows the island’s waters like the back of his hand.

He takes people on unforgettable fishing trips and teaches you how (and where!) to catch the good stuff.

It all starts early, we’re talking 6 AM 🥱.
But trust us, the peaceful ocean and the stunning sunrise over Lanzarote make it 100% worth it. 🌅

First catch of the day: a feisty barracuda.
But when the fishing session was almost over….tingeling!
The bell on the line rings and BAM:
a massive Pargo Sama takes the bait!

It takes real skill to land a fish like that but with Emile’s expertise, Frank reeled in this beauty like a pro.

Highly recommended for anyone staying at Lanzarote CASA HAVN - Playa Blanca!

Emile speaks Dutch🇳🇱 , Spanish 🇪🇸 , German 🇩🇪 and English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 so you’re in good hands, no matter where you’re from.

A soothing swim in our private pool, with just the right temperature and a gentle sea breeze in the air.

Vongole with garlic, spicy peppers, Spanish olive oil, and a splash of white wine.
Crispy bread and a glass of chilled rosé to complete it.
(And yes — everything comes from the nearby Lidl, for just a few euros!)

Because recovery should taste this good.

Hello Island Lovers 🏝️

Open water bliss this morning at Playa Dorada 🌊

Crystal clear turquoise water, just a few swimmers around, and temperatures so perfect I could ditch the wetsuit! 🏊‍♀️☀️

These sessions are gold, not just for building endurance, but for mastering the art of swimming straight in open water.

And yes, that little orange buoy behind me? Always with me for safety.

You never know when a cramp might surprise you in the deep… 😳

Final prep is in full swing for the triathlon in .

Hello Island Lovers island 🏝️

This morning’s training run was not just good for the body, but for the mind too!
🏃‍♀️💭

Meet Steffi — our amazing host in Playa Blanca and the driving force behind the rentals of Casa Havn.
While we were running along the Lanzarote coast, new ideas came to life to make your future stays at Casa Havn even better!

Steffi manages several properties in Playa Blanca and does it all with heart and professionalism.

She’s also a real adventurer: backpacker, mom of two beautiful kids, and currently training for both a triathlon and a trail run! 💪

This Sunday, we’re teaming up for the Lanzarote Wine Run.
Bring on the hills and the wine! 🍷⛰️🫢

We’re incredibly grateful that Steffi is the eyes and ears of Casa Havn in Lanzarote. She takes care of our guests as if it were her own home — and that means everything to us.

Sailing adventure from Marina Rubicón ⛵️🌊

From sailing lessons on small boats at Galgenweel in Belgium… to steering a real sailboat on the Atlantic Ocean! 🤩

Yesterday we set sail with Captain Gert on his beautiful boat Aquadomus, departing from Marina Rubicón – just a short walk from Lanzarote CASA HAVN - Playa Blanca.

After a safety briefing and some hands-on explanation, I took the helm… and stayed there the entire trip! We sailed past the lighthouse and headed towards the breathtaking Papagayo Beach 🏝️

There, we anchored, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and swam in the crystal-clear turquoise water. I even swam all the way to the beach and back – what an experience!

🐠 Snorkelling, feeding fish, soaking up the sun… Pure magic.

⚓️ We then raised the anchor and made a wide turn to catch the wind back to the marina. Captain Gert expertly docked the boat, and we ended the day with a little aperitif and great conversation on board.

Feeling grateful and amazed.
Sailing on the ocean – and according to the captain, I did pretty well! 😄
Definitely doing this again… there’s still so much to learn!
