Tapas y Bebidas with a view on La Geria

Today we stopped at El Chupadero, right in the heart of Lanzarote’s wine region.

Local tuna, salty anchovies, sardines and a chilled bottle of El Grifo white wine.

Add some retro 70s & 80s jazz funky music and it felt like we had travelled back in time.

Simple
Authentic
Delicious

Definitely a place we’ll return to.

Now I have time to read sailing books ⛵️

And at sunny moments like these makes me extra happy with our investment in two pergolas at Casa Havn.

One shades our cosy lounge area, where I’m currently enjoying a quiet moment with my sailing course.

Because in Lanzarote, outdoor living is part of the holiday experience …as long as you have a comfortable spot in the shade and that we have!

Did you ever watch a goat with a duck face? I did last Sunday and it was soooo cute 🐐

At the FASAT Federación de Asociaciones Agropecuarias y Pesqueras fair we met everything from impressive breeding bucks to mothers with their young kids.

What struck me most was how proud the farmers are of their animals. It’s a beautiful part of Lanzarote’s heritage that is still very much alive today.

🏇🏻I went to a horse race in Lanzarote🐎

Yesterday’s race at the agricultural fair FASAT Federación de Asociaciones Agropecuarias y Pesqueras in Teguise brought back so many memories.

Years ago, I competed in show jumping, dressage and eventing so watching the riders race by, I could almost see myself out there again.

Some passions never really leave you 🩵

YEP.... we do the Wine Run Lanzarote !! For the 3th time!!

This year, there are no triathlon goals on my calendar.
After a hernia operation I take it a little easier.

But then there's the Wine Run Lanzarote... and some events are simply too beautiful, too much fun and too delicious to miss. 🍷

Together with friends, we're counting down to 14 June.
A 12 km route through the spectacular vineyards of La Geria, surrounded by volcanoes, bodegas and... camels. 🐪
They walk along with us and"do" the 12 km, although for them it's a bit easier they're right at home in La Geria.

But we are RUNNING it. YEAAHAAA!

And yes, we've actually been training in Belgium.
The running part off course ;-)

As for the wine tasting, tapas sampling and post-race celebrations... we've done absolutely no training whatsoever. We're relying entirely on natural talent for that.

Yesterday our solar panels were installed! 🌞

In my professional life as an Event Manager, I’m also responsible for sustainability initiatives. So it felt only natural to bring that same mindset to our little paradise in Lanzarote.

The happy ending of our Hedgehog 🦔

Yesterday we introduced you to our tiny visitor...

After rescuing him from the pool cover, Frank placed the exhausted little hedgehog in a quiet shady spot in the garden, with some food and water nearby.

At first, he barely moved...
But slowly, he started to regain his strength.
And then... Jeeeeeeeej!

The entire plate was empty and our tiny guest was ready for his next adventure.

Before letting him continue his journey, Frank made sure he was safely relocated away from the road and traffic.

And just as our little friend disappeared into freedom again ...
A rainbow appeared above Casa Havn. 🌈
Coincidence? Maybe...

But we'd like to think nature was saying thank you to Frank.

Sometimes the smallest guests leave the biggest memories. ❤️
