EUS_ XVI. mendearen hasieratik gutxienez, euskal arrantzale eta baleazaleak Ternuako Placentia inguruan ibiltzen ziren. Historian zehar, Euskal Herriko azuleju eta teila ugari aurkitu dira Placentian, baita euskarazko inskripzioak dituzten hainbat hilarri ere, bertan hil eta lurperatutako euskal arrantzaleenak. Gaur bezala, 2017ko ekainaren 21ean, ofizial egin zen Plentziaren eta Kanadako Placentia hiriaren arteko senidetzea. Ikus dezakezunez, bien arteko antzekotasuna ere harrigarria da.

CAS_ Desde al menos principios del siglo XVI, los pescadores y balleneros vascos frecuentaban la zona de Placentia, en Terranova. A lo largo de la historia, se han encontrado en Placentia numerosos restos de azulejos y tejas originarios de Euskal Herria, así como varias lápidas con inscripciones en euskera pertenecientes a arrantzales vascos que murieron y fueron enterrados allí. Tal día como hoy, el 21 de junio de 2017, se oficializó el hermanamiento entre Plentzia y la ciudad canadiense de Placentia. Como podéis apreciar, el parecido entre ambas es también sorprendente.

ENG_ Basque fishermen and whalers have been known to frequent the area around Placentia, Newfoundland, since at least the early 16th century. Over the years, numerous remains of tiles and bricks from the Basque Country have been found in Placentia, along with several tombstones bearing Basque inscriptions, belonging to Basque fishermen who died and were buried there. On this day, June 21, 2017, the twinning between Plentzia and the Canadian city of Placentia was officially established. As you can see, the resemblance between the two is also striking.

EUS_ Plentziatik mundura, aldi baterako erakusketa berria Butroeko Plasentia museoan: Abenturak eta merkataritzak bultzatuta ozeanoak eta kulturak zeharkatu zituzten plentzitarren istorioak kontatzen ditu zabaldu berri den erakusketak. Urdanetako Natur Zientzien Museoaren eta Alberto Bejarano zuzendariaren lankidetzari esker, erakusketak taxidermiako 40 pieza eta mundu osoko 80 espezia exotiko baino gehiago biltzen ditu.
