SELF-CATERING SHOULD MEAN SELF-CATERING. 🍳
Having just stayed in a holiday home myself, I've been reminded of one of the frustrations of self-catering — opening the cupboards to find one knife, one rather questionable pan and nothing big enough to put a salad in!
It also reminded me why the kitchen at Litha House is equipped the way it is.
I know you can cook a full Christmas dinner at Litha House and still have pans to spare — because I have. 🎄
But let's face it, most of us aren't planning Christmas dinner every night of our holiday.

Supermarkets on holiday… not exactly the glamorous part. 😂
But one of the questions I’m often asked as a holiday-home owner is: “Where’s the best place to do a proper food shop?”
Having just spent a week away myself, I was reminded how useful it is to know the answer.
I’m definitely a one big shop at the start of the holiday person. Get the fridge stocked, buy what we need for the week, put it all away — and then relax and enjoy the holiday. If we run out of milk, bread or something particular later, that’s what the local shops are for.
The problem when you arrive somewhere new is knowing which supermarket is worth going to and what you’ll find there.
So I’ve put together my Shopping for Self-Catering Guide to Caleta de Fuste.
It’s based on the sort of questions my own Litha House guests ask me and is designed to make that first holiday shop a little easier — whether you’re staying at Litha House or anywhere else self-catering in Caleta.

A relaxing pool day shouldn’t have to begin with an alarm clock.
