Hoy os presentamos a Lobaria pulmonaria, el liquen pulmonar o pulmonaria, un liquen folioso de color marrón oliva que crece en la corteza de los árboles. Debido a que la pulmonaria es muy sensible a la contaminación del aire, se considera un indicador de ecosistemas intactos. La pulmonaria fue utilizado en la Edad Media para tratar enfermedades pulmonares. Actualmente se encuentra en raras ocasiones, pero sí la tenemos en La Gomera, vive en el Parque Nacional de Garajonay. Podrás conocerla personalmente en nuestras rutas de senderismo por la laurisilva canaria.

Heute stellen wir Euch Lobaria pulmonaria vor, die Echte Lungenflechte, eine olivbraune Blattflechte, die auf der Rinde von Bäumen wächst. Da die Lungenflechte sehr empfindlich auf Luftschadstoffe reagiert, gilt sie als ein Indikator für intakte Ökosysteme. Wegen ihrer Inhaltsstoffe wurde die Lungenflechte im Mittelalter gegen Lungenleiden eingesetzt. Sie ist stark gefährdet und kommt inzwischen nur noch selten vor, wie zum Beispiel auf La Gomera im Nationalpark Garajonay. Auf unseren Wanderungen durch den kanarischen Lorbeerwald könnt ihr sie persönlich kennenlernen.

Today we introduce you to Lobaria pulmonaria, the tree lungwort or lung lichen, a leaf lichen with pitted, olive-brown lobes that grows on the bark of trees. Because of its high sensitivity to air pollution, it is considered an indicator of intact ecosystems. The lung lichen was used to treat lung diseases in the Middle Ages. It is now only rarely found, for example, on La Gomera in the Garajonay National Park. You can get to know it in person on our hikes through the Canary Islands' laurel forest.
