El Monasterio Restaurant, near Puerto de la Cruz, up in the North of the Island.
Well worth a visit if you´re up that way. Its 2 or 3 restaurants in one. Gets a bit busy on a Sunday, Great views over Puerto from here.

Tropical Storm Hermine brings heavy rain to Tenerife and the rest of the Canary Islands.

So all the rain we are seeing at the moment is due to Tropical Storm Hermine. An alert issued by AEMET covers what can be expected:

From today until Monday the Canary Islands will receive very heavy rainfall with the possibility of high winds, until Monday,

The centre of tropical storm Hermine is located at 20.2º N, 20.8º W, Northeast of Cape Verde. Winds are at 65 km/h and the storm is moving north at about 17 km/h.

It is expected to continue moving North for the next several hours, turning Northeast on Sunday afternoon before heading Northwest on Monday night as it weakens.

Although the centre of the system will not reach the Canary Islands, it will get close enough to produce widespread, intense and persistent rainfall, accompanied by a storm.

Starting at noon today, there will be heavy rainfall, up to 60 mm in
12 hours. Sunday will be the peak day of the rainfall episode. An intensification of rainfall is expected which could be up to 30 mm in 1 hour, and which could total 100mm in 12 hours.

Rainfall is expected to be less intense on Monday, although heavy showers are still likely over the westernmost islands, occasionally stormy, with accumulations of up to 100mm in the first 12 hours.

They will tend to taper off through the afternoon as the tropical storm weakens into a post-tropical depression.

Due to the intensity and persistence of rainfall, flash floods can occur in areas of ravines and streams, as well as in low-lying areas.
Likewise, the possibility of landslides cannot be ruled out.

Direct flights from Tenerife to New York coming in 2022

United Airlines are commencing direct flights from June 2022, operating 3 times per week between Tenerife South Airport and Newark International.

Flight time will be approximately 7 hours and flight capacity will be 169 people per flight on a Boeing 757.

The flights will be on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 12pm from Tenerife, returning on a Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 9:50pm (local US time.)

Ticket prices will be in the region of 600€ for a round-trip ticket.
