Tenerife’s towel wars just got serious 👀

A hotel in Playa de las Américas has gone viral after bringing in security staff to stop guests reserving sunbeds before the pool officially opens.

Holidaymakers were reportedly queuing from around 7:30am, waiting for the 8am rush to grab the best loungers by the pool. 🏖️

Santa Cruz could be getting closer to dog-friendly beach zones 🐾

A council study has found that five beaches may be suitable for future dog bathing areas, including Las Gaviotas, Las Teresitas, Acapulco, Añaza and the area next to Club Náutico.

The plan is not approved yet, and any new zones would need rules, signage, hygiene controls and authorisation before dogs are officially allowed.

For now, it’s a promising step for local dog owners in Tenerife. 🌊🐕

Tenerife is moving to toughen its response after repeated assaults and serious incidents involving TITSA bus staff.

The Cabildo has approved a motion to give drivers and inspectors greater legal protection, including the possibility of being recognised as administrative authority figures.

TITSA would also be able to take direct legal action against people who attack or seriously disrespect staff on buses, at stops or in stations. 🚌

The goal is clear: faster complaints, stronger penalties and safer journeys for both workers and passengers.

Anaga could soon change the way hikers access some of its most popular trails. 🌿

The Cabildo is studying a mobility plan that may require visitors to arrive by public bus before entering certain routes, aiming to reduce parking pressure and protect local villages.

The idea would work in a similar way to Masca, with access linked to a bus ticket for selected trails. 🚌

Nothing is final yet, but residents are being consulted and the measures could shape how people explore Anaga in the future.

Masca’s ecotax is back in the spotlight 🌿

The access fee was meant to help manage one of Tenerife’s most visited natural spots, but new figures show it only covers around 60% of the cost.

A 74-year-old man who went missing after taking his dog for a walk in Granadilla de Abona has been found safe after an overnight search.

Emergency teams found his dog first, which helped them narrow down the search area. The man was later located in a small ravine and safely rescued from the difficult terrain.

A scary night, but thankfully a positive ending for him, his family, and his dog 🐶🚨

A 67-year-old woman remains in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest at Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Lifeguards found her without vital signs and began CPR on the sand before emergency medical teams arrived. After coordinated resuscitation efforts, her pulse was recovered and she was transferred by medicalised ambulance to Doctor Negrín Hospital. 🚑

Local Police escorted the ambulance to help ensure a faster transfer.

From August 2026, bars in Spain may add a 10 cent refundable deposit on bottles and cans, but only when the drink is taken outside the premises.

So no, your terrace drink should not automatically cost more. If the bottle or can stays in the bar and staff handle the recycling, the deposit does not apply.

Take it away, and you may pay the extra 10c, then get it back when you return the container through an authorised return point. ♻️

Small change, big confusion. Save this before someone tells you every drink is getting more expensive.

The famous “sunbed wars” just got serious. 🏖️

A German family has won €986.70 after their holiday was ruined by “ghost towels” reserving hotel sunbeds before guests even arrived.

The court ruled the holiday was “defective” because the hotel failed to stop guests from blocking loungers without using them.

Could this change the way hotels in Tenerife handle towel reservations this summer? 👀

Canarias is getting Spain’s first C295 SAR aircraft, a new search-and-rescue plane heading to Gando Air Base in Gran Canaria. ✈️🌊

The aircraft will help locate people lost at sea, support maritime surveillance, and strengthen operations against trafficking routes around the islands.

Spain has ordered 16 C295 aircraft in total, split between search-and-rescue and maritime patrol versions.

A big step for safety in Canary waters.
