Orange trees are an iconic symbol of Seville, decorating its streets, squares, and courtyards with their fragrance and beauty. While they add charm to the city, their fruit—bitter oranges—aren’t suitable for direct consumption due to their extremely sour and bitter taste 🍊✨

However, these oranges are highly valued, as they are used to make marmalades, perfumes, and liqueurs. Their collection is also essential to prevent them from falling to the ground and disrupting movement around the city

Tucked away just steps from the bustling Cathedral and the Giralda, Plaza de Santa Marta is a charming hidden corner in the heart of Seville. This small, peaceful square, surrounded by old whitewashed houses adorned with blooming flower pots, is a true oasis of tranquillity in the city’s historic centre ✨

At its heart stands a stone cross, enhancing its serene and traditional character. Accessible only through a narrow passageway, the plaza exudes an air of mystery and exclusivity. 👑 In Spain, the Feast of the Three Kings (Reyes Magos) is one of the most beloved traditions, celebrated every 6th of January. According to the biblical story, Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar travelled from the East to bring gifts to the baby Jesus: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. On this day, Spanish children receive presents from the Three Kings, who deliver them during the night of January 5th—provided they’ve been well-behaved throughout the year 🎁

In Seville, this celebration reaches spectacular heights with the Cabalgata de Reyes, a vibrant procession that takes place on the afternoon of January 5th (this year, it will be held on Saturday, January 4th, due to potential rain). The parade winds through the city streets with elaborately decorated floats, music, and Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar accompanied by their entourage, throwing sweets and small gifts to the crowd. The magical atmosphere delights both children and adults alike 🍬

The Cabalgata de Reyes in Seville is an unforgettable experience for international visitors—a perfect blend of tradition, fantasy, and the city’s characteristic joy. If you’re in Seville at this time, don’t miss it—it’s a unique glimpse into Spain’s rich cultural heritag 🤩
