Want to know the exciting and interesting history behind... the Giralda?
Giralda is translated as “She who turns". This building has a unique architectural design mixing both Christian and Islamic structural features built in 1195 and was the tallest building in the city for over 800 years with a height of 104 metres. It took a totally of 12 years to build.
Linking back to the architectural design, originally it was built as the minaret of the Aljama mosque but now it’s the bell tower of the Christian’s Cathedral de Sevilla. You can climb up to the bell chamber for stunning view of this traditional city including the palace Alcazar and Barrio Santa Cruz as well as many more.
This can be seen on one of our free tours of Sevilla! Everyday at 10:30am and 5pm for English speaking tourists.
