Last day of March and the sun is shining 🌞
Looks like the rain has finished thankfully and summer is on its way 😊 need to get cracking on the pool as would be nice to have it open at the start of May 🏊‍♀️

Today the girls recreated the famous scene from Indiana Jones Last Crusade on Playa de Mónsul which is 45 minutes from here. Then a little drive back to Playa de los Genoveses which is a much bigger sandy beach. Can’t wait until it’s warm enough to take a dip but although it was 23’ today the water is 🥶

Update - all done 😊

It’s been a strange few weeks for weather, went down to 2 one night which is quite rare here, then went to 24 yesterday so it’s hard to know what to wear! As usual in the winter the house is cold whatever the temp 😔
We’ve been doing some work on the main house. Our front door was looking very sad so we’ve sanded it back and nearly ready for special oil an re do all the metal. Normally a door would take few hours but with ours being 3m x 3m it takes days ! Front of house will be getting stripped of old plaster soon the re rendered before it get too hot.
The almonds are just starting to come out so will get some pictures as it’s an amazing sight 🌸
We also had a walk around an abandoned gold mine, unfortunately the only nuggets they found were chicken !

Hello from the Spanish oven !
We’ve been very busy over the last few months so haven’t had much time to write anything. We’ve had people staying in the apartment from France, Sweden, Eastern Europe, America and many different parts of Spain so keeping us busy. Almost fully booked for August 😊 plus we’ve had visits from family which was amazing !
It’s been very hot the last month and we have had days in the 40’s, some nights it hasn’t dropped below 30 so it’s a struggle sleeping even with aircon as our house is sooooo hot ! Also been doing what we can to keep the chickens happy as they are struggling in the heat 🐔 ice baths and frozen watermelon 👍

Not done much on the house but have created a path from the apartment to the pool that avoids the steps so easier for prams or wheelchair access to the pool. We have couple with a disabled child staying in August so hopefully they’ll appreciate what we’ve done.
Next job in the autumn will be insulating the bedrooms in prep for the winter. Hopefully help with the cold and heat 🥵

Today we went to the Rio Agua which is a natural spring near our house. Bit hard to get in but very refreshing swim among the turtles and frogs lol 🐸 Also had a few beach days which the girls love ❤️

We’ve had a few weeks of wet weather which we desperately needed but the sun is back and going to be hot tomorrow so off to the beach. The pool is clean and ready but still a bit too cold for us. Hopefully the warm weather warms it up a bit.
The cactuses we rescued seem to be happy ! 😃 ☀️ l

Been a while since our last post as we’ve been busy with day to day life and running the apartment. We’ve had a few people stay over the last few months, bikers, bird spotters and a few cyclists. Have bookings for August and September but still plenty of availability which is annoying lol The Spanish don’t tend to book that far in advance so hopefully we’ll book out for the summer 🙏.
We’ve done quite a bit to the house, baby pool is ready and the girls are just waiting for a hot day to jump in. Painted most of the back of the house, just have to do the high bits 😱 and we’ve had variable success with our vegetable growing. Potatos nearly done and tomatoes, peppers, corn and chilies are in and starting to grow. Few onions but most didn’t grow 🤔 Hopefully we’ll get some free food this year but learning as we go.
