Here are som photos from the Gastronomic Fair in Murcia, which ended this Monday. Highly recommend to visit if you have the opportunity next year. Plenty of exhibitors and innovative tapas to be tasted. It’s difficult to pick a favourite but the pulpo a la murciana was really nice. As opposed to the classic pulpo a la gallega, the Murcian version is cooked in the oven with wine or beer. Later this month the yearly Spanish Michelin Guide Gala will be hosted in Murcia. It’s really fun to see that the region’s gastronomy is making footprints on Spain’s culinary map.

Tip of the day. Are you looking to spruce up the interior decoration of your La Torre home? Our “secret” go to place for any interior design related stuff is the antique store El Mercado del Usado in Murcia. They offer beautiful (used) design objects and furniture at affordable prices. We recently got these fish plates (six plates + one big serving plate), which makes dining on the terrace just a little bit nicer. Enjoy the rest of this sunny day!

As of next week we will have many guests staying at Villa Chopa for the remainder of the summer/early fall. You’ll be welcomed by our newly planted yucca palm tree by the front garden. The new yucca will join its smaller sibling by the parking, which was added last summer. We wish all our guests a lovely stay!

We highly recommend the onsite Italian, Acacia. Great atmosphere and delicious pizzas. It was so tasty that we almost forgot to take a picture of the food when it arrived. In case it doesn’t show: the dessert was a fluffy and nutritious tiramisu. Lovely to dine on the terrace on a Wednesday when live music also is on the menu.

Can you be excited about Burger King? Yes, you can. At least when you find out that the world’s best chef has created a burger for them, available right now. Clearly we had to try both the chicken and beef versions by Dabiz Muñoz. He has been selected as the World’s Best Chef three consecutive years, which no one has achieved before. When not designing burgers he runs Madrid’s only Michelin 3 star restaurant DiverXO (which has another price lever than the 9.95 euro burgers at Burger King). Cheers!

The village of Lo Ferro is only a nine minutes drive from La Torre. Last night we attended the finale of the yearly and week long Flamenco Festival. For anyone curious about flamenco (or if you’re into culture in general) this is a must visit event if you’re on location during the flamenco week. Olé!
