Mojácar will have its first 5-star hotel by Cosentino
In just over a year, Mojácar will have its first 5-star hotel. This will happen after the family office of the Cosentino family has closed an agreement with a subsidiary of the international hotel chain Hyatt Hotels Corporation for the opening of this hotel establishment, whose construction is scheduled to begin at the end of this year and, as Macenas announces on its own website, it is expected to be open by 2026.
The property plans to invest more than 40 million euros in the construction of this new hotel establishment that will operate under the brand 'Destination by Hyatt'. In this way, the hotel chain expands the presence in Europe of this brand that already has establishments in Ibiza, Sardinia and Scotland. And from 2026 with one in Mojácar, which, they explain, has an exclusive architecture, services and designs that are integrated into the topography of the land, inspired by the Almerian agricultural tradition of cultivating terraces.
Thus, now the family management of the Almerian group has signed an agreement with a subsidiary of the Hyatt hotel group by which the Macenas Mediterranean Resort complex will have a hotel integrated into the 'Destination by Hyatt' brand and which will be oriented towards luxury holiday tourism and events.
The establishment will be the first 5-star hotel in the Almerian town of Mojácar and will be called 'Hotel Business & Golf', as stated by Macenas Resort on its website, where it explains that it will be a category 5 complex, with a design based on the concept of discreet luxury, free of eccentricities and giving the environment the "main role".
The agreement
The agreement has been carried out through Horwath HLT, a hotel, tourism and leisure consultancy, according to the company. Thus, this new hotel will entail an investment in its construction by its owners of more than 40 million euros, and is destined, according to its managers, "to be one of the driving forces of tourism employment in the province and to break the seasonality of the sector." It is expected that it could generate around 110 direct and indirect jobs during the 365 days of the year.
"It is a great satisfaction to have the support of the Macenas Mediterranean Resort hotel project from a brand with the international positioning of Hyatt," said Álvaro de la Haza, director of the family office of the Cosentino family.
This is the first foray of the company's family office into the hotel sector and the aim is to revitalise the tourist offer on the Almería coast with a sustainable residential complex creating a "wellness experience at any time of the year", for which it will have spaces for meetings, events and conventions, a beach club, a social club, golf course, swimming pools, spa and wellness area, healthy dining establishments, suites and private villas, as well as double and triple rooms.
Macenas Mediterranean Resort
This hotel is part of Macenas Mediterranean Resort, a residential, tourist and sports project, promoted by the Cosentino family office, which was born with the ambition of becoming a reference destination at a national and international level.
The project is characterised "by its commitment to sustainability, excellence, and to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of this enclave located in Mojácar (Almería)".
With an estimated total investment of more than 200 million euros, this is a long-term plan that demonstrates the Cosentino family's commitment to creating value for Almería.
The ex*****on of the master plan, designed by architect Rafael de la-Hoz, began in 2022 with the investment in the infrastructure necessary for the water treatment system and the expansion of electrical capacity. The comprehensive renovation and expansion of the Social Club was also undertaken, with its subsequent opening in the summer of 2023.
In addition to the construction of the five-star hotel, the project includes investment in the construction of different real estate developments, ranging from single-family homes to multi-family residential areas.
