Happy Spain's National Day – Ride Into the Celebration! 🎆

Tomorrow, October 12th, Valencia celebrates Día de la Hispanidad with one of the city's most spectacular events – and you have a front-row seat on two wheels!

🎉 What's Happening in Valencia:

International Parade of Nations: Starting at 5:00 PM from Porta de la Mar, over 7,000 participants and 37 folkloric groups from 21 countries will march through the city centre in a vibrant celebration of Hispanic culture

Commemorative Concert: At 7:00 PM in Plaza de la Reina, enjoy a musical journey through Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, and Guatemala, followed by a tribute to Valencian and Spanish traditions

Fireworks Finale: The night closes with a spectacular fireworks display around 8:00 PM

🎉 Happy 9 d'Octubre – Valencian Community Day! 🎉

Today, October 9th, we celebrate the history and spirit of Valencia. On this day in 1238, King James I (Jaume I) entered the city, marking the birth of the Kingdom of Valencia.

The tradition of commemorating this date began in 1338, and since 1982 it has been the official Day of the Valencian Community. It's also a special day for lovers, who traditionally exchange the Mocadorà – a scarf filled with marzipan fruits.

🎆 International Fireworks Symposium – 11 Free Shows!
World-class fireworks light up Valencia! 🎆🚲

The 20th International Fireworks Symposium (ISF) opens Sunday, October 11, with 11 free fireworks displays across the city until October 16. Expect top pyrotechnic teams from Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Italy and the USA – plus drone shows and correfocs.

Opening show: Oct 11, 8:30 PM at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

🚲 Why bike? Shows happen at multiple locations (Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Monteolivete bridge, and more). Biking lets you hop between venues and avoid beach parking chaos.

🏰 Medieval Market + Moors & Christians Parade
Step back in time – on two wheels! 🚴‍♂️🏰

Valencia celebrates 9 d’Octubre this Friday, October 9, with the Moors & Christians Parade starting at 5 PM from Glorieta. Meanwhile, the Medieval Market in Turia Gardens runs until October 13 – over 50 craft and food stalls along the old riverbed, open until midnight.

🚲 Why bike? City centre roads close for the parade and parking is impossible. Ride straight to the market along Turia’s bike path, then cruise back after the parade – no traffic, no stress.

🎸 Pepsi Invita – Free Concert in Alboraya
Free live music – just a short ride away! 🎶🚴‍♂️

On August 28 at 20:00, the "Pepsi Invita" concert series brings a tribute to Extremoduro to La Casa de la Mar in Alboraya. Entry is free with an invitation.

🚲 Why ride there? Alboraya is just a short, flat ride along the coast from our shop – perfect for an evening spin. Beat the concert traffic, park your bike for free, and enjoy the show. After the music, enjoy a cool ride back along the seafront under the stars.

🎪 Circ Voramar – Free Circus Festival by the Sea
Valencia's biggest free circus festival returns! 🎪🚲

From August 28 – September 6, the 11th Circ Voramar transforms Valencia's maritime neighbourhoods into a giant open-air stage. 25 free performances – acrobatics, juggling, clown shows, and physical theatre – will take over Tinglado 2 at La Marina, Mercado del Cabanyal, Escorxador cultural centre, and Reina 121 among other spots.

🚲 Why ride there? Performances are spread across multiple venues along the waterfront – biking lets you hop between shows easily. Skip the parking stress, enjoy the sea breeze, and make it a perfect family-friendly day out!

Extreme Heat Alert – Ride Smart Tomorrow! 🚴‍♂️🔥

Valencia is under a red extreme heat warning tomorrow (Aug 19) with highs of 42–44°C lasting through Aug 20.

Please follow these safety tips:

⏰ Avoid riding 11 AM – 5 PM – choose early morning (7–9 AM) or after 7 PM instead.

💧 Hydrate constantly – drink 500‑750 ml per hour, even if not thirsty. Add electrolytes to your water.

🧴 Protect yourself – apply SPF 30+ sunscreen, wear glasses, and cover your neck and ears.

🛑 Rest in the shade every 45‑60 minutes – cool your neck and arms with water.

⚠️ Forest fire alert – cycling is prohibited on forest tracks in natural parks (e.g., Serra Calderona). Stick to urban and coastal routes.

🚨 Watch for symptoms – dizziness, nausea, or cramps mean stop, find shade, and hydrate. Call 112 if severe.

Your safety comes first. We recommend postponing rides to cooler hours or another day. For any questions, contact us anytime.

🎨 Centre del Carme – Free Art & Culture (Indoor Escape from the Heat!)
Escape the August heat with free culture! 🖼️🚲

The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) is open Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–20:00, offering a climatised refuge with rest areas, drinking water, and free Wi-Fi. Current free exhibitions include "Teatro Magnético" (Pablo Helguera's first major show in Spain), "Breve historia de una pasión" (over 100 works from the Avelino Marín collection), and more. Free guided tours and workshops are also available.
