The balustrade of life in Zarratón, La Rioja, Spain.
There are no words more fitting than those of its creator to understand its symbolism:
"The entrance to the cemetery in Zarratón is a place that contains everything".
We must walk along its promenade, leaving the town centre behind us as if we were pilgrims. We will stop at the beginning of the square, at the start of the balustrade, and we will see two large golden gates at the front:
The first is the one that leads to the cemetery, which can wait until the end of the visit. If we continue looking, we will see a huge gate like a passage through the outer walls of the cemetery, that is, with a view of the vineyard, the land, the countryside, life, which represents the passage to life.
If we walk along this passageway holding on to the fence, the distance travelled will be 40 metres. Is this a coincidence? No, 40 is a biblical number that represents transformation.
Before going through the large gate, we can let go of the railing because we are already transformed and we understand why, in the repetition of the railing modules, we find the logos of cosmic creation, man and nature, the golden ratio or the Fibonacci series. The divine angle.
Having chosen life as our first option, we will be able to walk through it and contemplate all its virtues and goodness.
