On the 28th of February 2020, the Addis Ababa Mayor's office reached out to Pilots and Cabin crews that were available on that day for a visit two major development projects in the capital.

The "Entoto” and “Sheger” projects constitute multiple constructions and renovation works throught out Addis Ababa.

Eng. Takele Uma, deputy mayor, took the opportunity to enlighten all those present on the necessity of these projects to realize the administration’s goal of making Addis a top tourist destination in Africa. The Entoto project, when completed, will feature a restaurant, a horse riding ranch, a football field, a cinema and other amenities. A series of hiking and bicycle roads connect all the facilities with an other. The next stop, the Sheger project, is located in front of the Sheraton hotel. According to the deputy mayor, when completed, the Sheger project will be the biggest public park in the capital.

These projects are modern futuritic by design and aimed to be used for various community purpose. These projects are set to put Addis Ababa among the top tourist destination cities in Africa.

A dinner program was also held at Hyatt Regency for the crews along with the Mayor and his staff. A briefing on various projects throughout the city which involve human resource and environmental developments was presented. Our Mayor, Eng. Takele Uma, stated that the crew are ambassadors for the city. It has been mentioned that the crew are uniquely responsible in promoting our country, city and culture on various corners of the world through our travels and social media networks.

A committee was established at this event to re-establish a cabin crew Association and oversee the progress as well as device possible collaborations between the associations and the Mayor's office.

In addition, Eng. Takele stated that the long over due relationship between the crews and Mayor's office shall prosper and accomplish grand visions. We shall all be grateful to the deputy mayor for acknowledging our role as ambassadors and giving us the greatest opportunity to visit these projects especially at a time when we felt we needed some respect!

Any allegation that insinuates otherwise is unfounded and out of touch with reality.
