Timkat is the orthodox tewahedo celebration of Epiphany.it is celebrated on the January 19th , corresponding to the 10th day of Terr in the Ethiopian calendar. Timkat celebrates the baptism of jesus on the Jordan River.

The Hamer occupy a mountainous region in the eastern part of the lower Omo Valley. Their name is also spelled Hamer. The ā€œJumping the bullā€ ceremony is the most spectacular rite of passage in Southern Ethiopia.

This ceremony marks the initiation of young men in to adult hood. The main players are the initiates, those who are going to jump the bulls and the maz, those recently initiated who have already undergone this rite. The initiate boys are required to jump in to the backs of formidable obstacle jump down on to the other side and then repeat the entire procedure on the day after the ā€œjumping the bullā€ ceremony, women gather together, beautifully attired in their bedded skins and iron jeweler.

Hamer women wear their hair in dense ringlets smeared with mud and clarified butter and topped off with a head featuring oblongs of gleaming aluminum courtship daces follow and continue for the following two days and night. Their dance styles called ā€œevangadiā€ and ā€œcamp fireā€ ritual has attracted many scholars’ artists and visitors to their land from different parts of the globe.

Gheralta is steep outcrops of cliffs and table mountains with very dramatic landscapes. But for most tourists to Ethiopia, the main reason to come to the Gheralta region is for its about 35 churches, the largest concentration of cliff churches of Ethiopia. density.

Tiya is among the most important of the roughly 160 archaeological sites discovered so far in the Soddo region, south of Addis Ababa. The site contains 36 monuments, including 32 carved stelae covered with symbols, most of which are difficult to decipher. They are the remains of an ancient Ethiopian culture whose age has not yet been precisely determined.
