Jazeera Airways set to launch direct flights between Addis and Kuwait City starting September 7, 2026!

Ahead of the launch, the airline's Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Carroll, paid a courtesy visit to Tourism State Minister Dr. Endegena Abebe, where they discussed strengthening air connectivity between the two cities.

Dr. Endegena highlighted the significance of the new route in expanding air connectivity between Africa's diplomatic capital, Addis Ababa, and Kuwait City, thereby providing greater convenience for tourists, business travelers, and diplomats.

He noted that the service will further enhance tourism and business ties between Ethiopia and Kuwait.

Jazeera Airways Chief Commercial Officer Paul Carroll, for his part, said that the new direct service will initially operate three times a week, with the airline aiming to increase the frequency to daily flights in the future.

Planting Hope for Ethiopia and Beyond 🌱

Today, Ethiopians from all corners of the country have come together to achieve this year's Green Legacy Initiative target of planting 800 million seedlings in a single day.

Led by Tourism State Ministers Dr. Endegena Abebe and Mr. Sileshi Girma, the tourism family and stakeholders participated in the nationwide campaign, planting around 100,000 tree seedlings.

Together, we're restoring landscapes, protecting our natural heritage, and building a sustainable future for generations to come!

Tourism State Minister Dr. Endegena Abebe hosted UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia, Dr. Aboubacar Kampo, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in community-based tourism development and job creation.

During the meeting, Dr. Endegena emphasized the Ministry of Tourism's commitment to promoting sustainable community-based tourism while empowering women and youth through entrepreneurship and digital skills.

He noted the Ministry's readiness to work closely with partners, including UNICEF, to create sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Aboubacar Kampo, for his part, appreciated Ethiopia's immense tourism potential and expressed UNICEF's interest in supporting initiatives that create tourism-related employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of families.

The two sides agreed to develop a joint proposal that will serve as a roadmap for future collaboration in advancing community-based tourism and job creation.

The Great Ethiopian Run launches registration for the 26th edition of the 10km race

Registration is now on for the 2026 Great Ethiopian Run 10km race, which will bring together a record 60,000 runners from Ethiopia and around the world.

Speaking at the registration opening ceremony, Tourism State Minister Dr. Endegena Abebe congratulated the Great Ethiopian Run and participants on the opening of registration for the 26th edition of the race.

He highlighted that the annual 10km race has become a landmark event that showcases Ethiopia's rich culture, warm hospitality, and immense tourism potential while attracting thousands of international participants.

Dr. Endegena also mentioned the significant contribution of the race in promoting Ethiopia's national tourism brand, "Land of Origins," and encouraged participants to register and take part in the event.

Founder of the Great Ethiopian Run, the legendary Haile Gebreselassie, on his part noted that the 26th edition of the race marks a significant milestone with the addition of Bank of America as the presenting partner.

He expressed his gratitude to government ministries and other partners for their unwavering support, which has laid the foundation for the Great Ethiopian Run 10km to become Ethiopia's flagship road race.

General Manager of the Great Ethiopian Run, Dagmawit Amare, also extended a warm invitation to participants to register for the historic race and join the journey toward making the Great Ethiopian Run the largest 10km race in the world.

This year's race will be held under the theme "My Run, My Color."
