Join us by boat across these beautiful waters, where ancient trees rise from the lake, giant hippo footprints mark the shoreline, and every sunset paints the sky in golden and red tones. As evening falls, enjoy the warmth of a lakeside campfire and the peaceful atmosphere that makes this destination unforgettable.

Located in southern Ethiopia near Arba Minch, Lake Chamo is one of the country’s most remarkable Rift Valley lakes, stretching approximately 32 km in length and around 13 km in width. መልካም ፋሲካ - Melkam Fasika 🤍🌿
May this season bring renewal, peace, and togetherness to you and your loved ones.

…we would like to share a little bit more with you.

🌿 Palm Sunday (Hosanna) – The Beginning of Holy Week
One week before Fasika, Ethiopians celebrate Palm Sunday – “Hosanna.”

It marks the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem, where people welcomed Him by laying down palm branches — a symbol of peace, honor, and hope.

In Ethiopia, this tradition comes to life beautifully:
🌿 Palm leaves are blessed in church
🌿 They are woven by hand into crosses, rings, crowns, and jewelry
🌿 Children and adults wear them throughout the day

These handcrafted pieces are not just decorative — they carry meaning:
✨ Protection
✨ Faith
✨ Connection to tradition

A simple palm leaf becomes a powerful symbol of belief and identity.

From Hosanna to Fasika, Ethiopia carries such authentic and deeply rooted Easter tradition.

Fasika – Ethiopian Easter – is one of the most meaningful and deeply spiritual celebrations in Ethiopia.

After 55 days of fasting, communities gather in churches late into the night.
Dressed in white, carrying candles, prayers fill the air until midnight — the moment of resurrection.

And then… celebration begins.

Families come together to break the fast with traditional dishes like doro wat, injera, fresh bread — sharing moments that are as nourishing as the food itself.

Fasika is more than a holiday — it is about:
✨ Renewal
✨ Faith
✨ Togetherness
✨ Gratitude

A time where spirituality, culture, and community come together.

Sustainability is not a label for us — it is the way we work.

At Yared Tour & Travel, we are deeply committed to tourism that serves communities just as much as it inspires travelers. We believe in creating experiences that connect people — human to human — while supporting local livelihoods and protecting cultural and natural heritage.

We are currently in the process of renewing our Travelife certification — undergoing trainings, refining our practices, and preparing everything transparently for both Travelife and for you.

At ITB Berlin, our General Manager Getinet had the pleasure of reconnecting with the Travelife team — always an inspiring exchange with partners who share the same vision for responsible tourism.

Travel fair. Connect deep. Discover Ethiopia.

☕️Can you smell it?

The smoky aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans…
The warmth of berbere spice rising from a bubbling pot…
The soft texture of injera, ready to be shared…

From the earthy richness of kocho, made from the false banana,
to the deep, bold flavours of datta, our vibrant chili sauce - every step is a story, every dish a connection.

Coffee is roasted, ground, and poured the traditional way.
Meals are not just served - they are shared.
And a glass of tella brings people together, just as it always has.

This is not just food.
This is Ethiopia - tasted, felt, experienced.

Come and join us on a culinary journey.

Our hearts are with Arba Minch and the communities of Gamo

The past days have brought very sad news from Arba Minch and the surrounding highland communities of the Gamo Zone.

Heavy rains caused floods and landslides across several areas including Bonke, Kamba Zuria and Gacho Baba. Many people have lost their lives, homes and livelihoods. Families have been displaced and entire communities are facing very difficult days.

For us at Yared Tour & Travel, these places are not just destinations on a map.
They are communities we know personally.

They are the guides who welcome our guests with pride.
The families who share coffee and stories.
The young guides who trained with us and started their associations.
The friends who show visitors the beauty and culture of their homeland.

Today our thoughts are with all of them.

We are thinking of the people in Bonke, Gina, and the surrounding villages. We hope for safety, strength, and support for everyone affected during this difficult time.

Ethiopia’s strength has always been its communities standing together. May the people of Gamo find the support they need to recover and rebuild.

We stand with you. 💔

ITB Berlin 2026 – Advancing Gender Equality in Tourism

We are proud to share that Getinet Seyoum, General Manager of Yared Tour & Travel, participated in a panel discussion at ITB Berlin speaking about gender equality in tourism and the role of women tour operators.

The discussion highlighted the importance of creating inclusive opportunities within the tourism sector, supporting women entrepreneurs, and strengthening community-based tourism initiatives that empower local communities.

At Yared Tour & Travel, we believe that sustainable tourism must also be equitable tourism. Supporting women in tourism — from local guides and community hosts to tour operators and entrepreneurs — is essential for building a stronger and more resilient industry.

We are grateful to be part of these important conversations and collaborations shaping the future of tourism in Ethiopia and beyond.

Community-Based Tourism Training Update | Gacho Baba & Bonke Woreda

At Yared Tour & Travel, we believe sustainable tourism begins with strong local leadership.

Over the past five days, we successfully delivered a capacity-building training for 11 local guides in Gacho Baba and Bonke Woreda, specifically in Gina Kebele and Bonke villages.

The participants — all graduates of a tourism academy — strengthened their skills in:
• Community-Based Tourism principles
• Sustainable tourism practices
• Professional guiding standards

A major milestone:
As a direct outcome of the training, the guides established two local guide associations — one in Gina and one in Bonke. This marks an important step toward stronger local organization, ownership, and long-term sustainability of tourism in both woredas.

We are especially proud that 2 of the 11 trained guides are women — the first female guides in these areas and among the very few in the SNNPR region. This represents meaningful progress toward gender inclusion in Ethiopian tourism.

The training was delivered by Yared Tour & Travel in close cooperation with the Gamo Zone Tourism Office. We provided all materials and led the facilitation as part of our long-term commitment to responsible tourism development.

This initiative builds on our ongoing work in the region, where we have already established community-based tourism structures and an eco-campsite — creating sustainable income opportunities while preserving culture, identity, and nature.
