Exploring the African Village at Kuriftu A Remarkable Experience in Melka Nonno, Sheger City!

Kuriftu goes beyond just being a resort it's a model for sustainable tourism that adds real value to Ethiopia’s tourism industry.

Their newest development, the Kuriftu African Village in Melka Nonno, is a shining example. The lodge is constructed using local materials and blends beautifully with its surroundings. It respects the environment and reflects the indigenous architecture that holds deep cultural significance. More importantly, it empowers the local community offering training and jobs to residents, including women, even if they’re new to the hospitality sector.

During our visit, we had the chance to see something truly unique: 54 beautifully decorated rooms, each themed after one of Africa’s countries. It’s a powerful and practical way of saying “Welcome home” to every African and global guest who walks through their doors. With breathtaking views of Addis Ababa the political capital of Africa, exceptional service, and delicious meals, Kuriftu African Village is a destination you simply must experience.

To my fellow Ethiopians, the diaspora, and international tourists: make the trip. You won’t regret it.

The best of Kuriftu is yet to come to Arbaminch!

Cheers to a bright future for Ethiopian tourism!

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐈𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚!

𝐈𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚 is the annual thanks giving day of the Oromo people of Ethiopia, which celebrate annually by the last week of September. According to the Oromo tradition “Irreechaa” itself, means ‘green and fresh grass’ that symbolize fertility and flourishing life due to the bless and guidance of the Creator, Waaqaa.
People gather around river banks and lake sides to make homage for Waqaa (God) for bringing from the rainy to the sunny season. People come out with colorful traditional outfits and march to water bodies to get blessed by the Aba Geddas.

The eye catching & charismatic Gelada monkey or the Lion monkey or the bleeding-heart monkey

The gelada (Theropithecus gelada) sometimes called the bleeding-heart monkey or the gelada "baboon", is a species of Old World monkey found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, with large populations in the Semien Mountains.

This is one of the most important ancient civilizations, but people still know very little about it.

There is nothing like nature!
Does it not look like an omelette?

Dallol is a cinder cone volcano in the Danakil Depression. It has been formed by the intrusion of basaltic magma into Miocene salt deposits and subsequent hydrothermal activity.

The term Dallol was coined by the Afar people and means dissolution or disintegration, describing a landscape of green acid ponds (pH-values less than 1) and iron oxide, sulfur and salt desert plains.
