The meeting with tourism stakeholders mainly with Eco tourism association was run peacefully and ended with agreements to work on common interests.
The agendas we discuss were the following
Conservation and park developments
The effects of the price increment mainly mule and mule man price
Forming collective committee
How to celebrate annual tourism day
Participants raised shuch vital ideas on all agendas. Walia guide association was among active participants. We believe that the high price increment affects our tourism highly and we try to rationalize it. Cooks,park and tourism officers also agreed on it. We observe a little disagreement from Eco tourism association members and some participants of the meeting. But I personally admire Eco tourism association leaders. They tried to ask the effect of price increment at the beginning of discussion but accepted the reasons raised from the house at last. I observed they are ready to discuss on price minimization.
Today we form a collective committee
Two from guide association
Two from cook association
Tow from tour companies
Four from Eco tourism association
One from lodge, scouts, tent men,trekking material rental association, park office and tourism office
The collective committee has 16 members. It appointe first meeting on the coming Monday. The first job to do will be how to minimize the price so early before the tourism diverts to other destinations.
The guide association will have a leading role on this issue in the committee.
In general, we agreed in principle. I know we all are curious about last price, but it needs to pass on some processes. Walia guide association will keep addressing the point we reach in the coming days.
