In Arbore tribe lower omo river valley Ethiopia you can distinguish unmarried and married women simply by looking the hairstyle, i just mentioned this among many other social and ritual significance of a woman with shaved head and women having hair enough to braid.

The MURSI Ethnic Group,
The Mursi, who call themselves Mun, are cattle herders and subsistence cultivators, with a population of about 15,000 people.
Their language is Mursi, a Surmic language of the Nilo-Saharan language family.
They live in dome shaped structures covered with grass that the women can erect quickly wherever the community settles.
The Mursi are traditionally nomadic, moving livestock from one pasture to another in seasonal cycles as rain patterns allow.
They also depend for over half their subsistence needs on cultivation of sorghum and maize.
Mursi women are the only South Omo valley group known for making and wearing lip plates which are traditionally worn by girls and young married women as a symbol of beauty and sexual maturity.
Lip plates are typically worn only
during special occasions such as dances, donga (ritual stick fight), or when a young woman serves food to her brother or husband and his guests.
It is left to the girl to choose whether or not she wishes to stretch her bottom lip, a gradual and painful process that can take up to ayear using graduated plates made from clay or wood.
