The Ethiopian calendar is roughly 7–8 years behind the Gregorian calendar. It consists of 13 months: 12 months of 30 days each, and a 13th month called "Pagumē" with 5 days in a common year and 6 days in a leap year.

As of today (November 13, 2024, Gregorian), the Ethiopian calendar would be in the year 2017, and the current month would be Hidar (the 8th month), with a date of 4 Hidar 2017 (since the Ethiopian year starts in September).
