Just spent a week at our cabin in Äkäslompolo Lapland. When we arrived the temperature was -40°, but during the week this improved and got to a balmy 0°. Then dropped slowly again to -15, which was still very comfortable.
We did a couple of beautiful walks around the lake to Navettagalleria for a lovely bowl of soup. A choice of reindeer or lentil. Another day we walked to Velhon kota for one of their yummy doughnuts.

Beautiful sunny morning for a walk round Äkäslompolo lake. As you can see from the pictures the water levels are pretty high. Sadly due to this we were unable to get to Navettagalleria for a last kahvia ja Munki.

Walked up to Kellokas visitor centre today through the forest. After yesterday a nice gentle stroll.

Today's snow shoe trek, with our friends Simon and Jeanette. First part was the easy path along the side of the Kesänkijärvi lake, then we took the Pirunkuru track up Kesänki and over the top stopping at Tahkorkuru hut for refreshments. Then we took the blue trail back down to the carpark. Again amazing beautiful scenery.
