High on a quiet ridge sits one of Finland’s oldest wooden churches—and a legend that has survived centuries. 🌲✨

​Built in the 1660s, St. Birgitta’s Church in Loppi was said to be so loud with its ringing bells that a local giantess tried — and failed — to crush it with a giant boulder.

​Just below the church hill lies the historical Cantor’s Estate (Lukkarin puustelli), now a charming local museum nestled in the same tranquil courtyard.

Together, these red-ochre gems offer a soul-soothing glimpse into authentic countryside history.

🌱 Laurinmäki Nature Trail 1,2 km�
Walk through diverse Finnish forests and explore the area's fascinating history, from Iron Age sacred sites to old battle trenches and the Crofter’s Museum. As you go, you might want to visit The Church of St. Lawrence, as it is the youngest medieval stone church in Häme.

🚵 Häme Lynx Trail MTB route Hattula, 18 km�
A mountain biking route through Finnish forest and varied terrain. You can start your ride from Parola or Hämeenlinna Railway station.

🌲 Pikku-Samo, 3.5 km�
A short and easy trail through forest, ridge landscapes and wooded marshland in Komio Nature Reserve. A nice choice for a relaxed walk in nature.

♿ Niemis-Koukkunen Demanding Accessible Trail, 3 km�
A trail for visitors looking for an accessible way to enjoy the forest landscapes of Evo Hiking Area.

🥾 Häme Lynx Trail, Ruostejärvi–Liesjärvi, 24 km�
Hike through forests, along lakes and across beautiful ridge landscapes, with a connection to Liesjärvi National Park.

What if your next outdoor adventure took you deep into the heart of Southern Finland?

The Häme Lynx Trail invites you to slow down and explore the landscapes of Häme on foot. Stretching for more than 250 kilometres, this network of trails winds through peaceful forests, ridges, wetlands and crystal-clear lakes, connecting some of the region’s most beautiful natural destinations.

Along the way, discover the wild landscapes of Liesjärvi and Torronsuo National Parks, explore the forests of Komio Nature Reserve, or pause by a lakeside campfire and simply listen to the silence.

🥾 Hike for a few hours or set out on a multi-day adventure.
🔥 Warm up by a campfire.
🌊 Take a refreshing dip in a Finnish lake.
