Cycling in the Heartland of Happiness 🚲

Quiet forest roads, sparkling lakes and centuries of history beneath your wheels. Häme by Cycle is a bikepacking network that takes you through the most beautiful nature and cultural sites of Häme.

Here's what's waiting for you:
⚔ Viking's Route is the backbone of the network: a 560 km gravel and bikepacking adventure through ancient trade paths and the peaceful silence of national parks. Relaxed gravel roads, easy trail sections, and some smooth asphalt.

🗺 East Strider's Trail is a 260 km circular loop (3–5 days) through cultural and historical landscapes, ridges, lakes, and villages of the Häme Lake Uplands. From ancient trade routes and forested ridges, the trail unfolds into lakeside villages, cultural landmarks, and tranquil countryside.

🌲 Hulder's Journey - Ride deep into forest trails, shimmering lakes, and quiet gravel roads that echo Nordic folklore. A multi-day adventure where nature's hidden spirit leads the way.

🚲 Odin's Journey is a 140 km circular route (3–5 days) with history, nature, and culture in one loop. The route passes through the lush forests of Liesjärvi National Park and the beautiful Kyynäränharju ridge, on toward Torronsuo National Park and the Jokioinen Museum Railway.

🌿 Evo Green Gold Gravel Loop - a 33 km circular route winding through the diverse landscapes of the Evo Hiking Area, following dirt roads and sandy outdoor trails. Perfect for a peaceful day ride with overnight options in rental huts and cottages right in the forest.

💚 Tiny Sisu's Family Tour is Finland's first family-friendly bike touring route. Easy 12 km ride through rural landscapes to Laurinmäki's nature and cultural area. The tour mainly follows paved cycle paths and is ideal for families, beginner cyclists, and seniors. Swimming beaches and cafés along the way make it a relaxed day out.

Excellent public transport connections make the routes easily accessible with 7 railway stations along the main route. It's easy to start your ride or cycle just one section - hop on the train from Helsinki, Tampere, Lahti or Turku and start pedalling.

Slow travel. Real nature. Ancient stories.

A glacier-carved trail you can reach by train: the Turenki–Kolmilammi Esker Trail is one of Häme’s best-kept secrets

Stretching about 15 km through Janakkala, this ancient esker ridge was formed at the end of the Ice Age, when meltwater carved the landscape into the rolling pine-forested ridges you can walk today. The trail winds along the top of the esker, dipping occasionally into marshy hollows, and opens up to beautiful panoramic views over the Häme rural landscape.

Along the way, you can spend the night at Kiipula Guest House and take a short detour for a coffee at countryside café.

✅ ~15 km, best suitable for hiking
🚂 Both trailheads (Turenki & Ryttylä) are accessible by train
🏊🏼 Swimming spots at both ends of the route
💧 Natural spring stop mid-trail
ℹ️ No other services along the trail, so pack your own supplies and enjoy the peace!

Whether you’re a seasoned trekker, trail runner or just looking for a long day out in nature, this trail is a wonderful way to experience the quiet beauty of Häme
