A quick introduction to two Finnish foods:

Salmiakki: salty liquorice, a Finnish favourite that many foreigners struggle to understand.

Maksalaatikko: a traditional Finnish liver casserole, usually served with lingonberry jam.

And now they combined the two.

Salmiakki maksalaatikko.

It’s only available for a limited time.🤓

🚀 A UFO has landed in the middle of Helsinki!

This is Futuro, designed by architect Matti Suuronen in 1968, the egg-shaped house was imagined as a lightweight, portable home for the space age.
Futuro is just one part of Helsinki Design Week, with exhibitions, installations, talks, architecture, fashion and events taking place around the city.

If you’re in Helsinki during Design Week, this is a great chance to see the city from a completely different perspective.

NIGHT OF THE ARTS IN HELSINKI!

If you're in Helsinki this Thursday, August 20, the city turns into one huge free festival for one night.

Here are some events worth checking out:

🦒 GIANT PINK GIRAFFES
19:00 Senate Square
Giant puppets, circus and opera take over the city centre in one of the night's biggest spectacles.

💃 SAMBA AT ESPLANADE
19:00 | Esplanadi Park
Papagaio and Samba Sinestesia bring Brazilian samba, rhythm and dancing right into the centre of Helsinki.

🎧 HELSINKI GOES EDM
16:00–22:00 | Kaisaniemi Park
11 electronic music producers representing different styles. An outdoor electronic music event right in the heart of the city.

🛹 SUVILAHTI
Evening | Suvilahti
Skateboarding, electronic music and performances in Helsinki's old industrial district. A completely different side of the city.

🎭 CHILDREN'S THEATRE
Kaapelitehdas
A great stop for families, with children's theatre as part of the Night of the Arts programme.

During our private tour with Alfonso and Luz from Meta, Colombia, we ran into some old Helsinki residents today… 🐴
These traditional brewery horses are part of the long history of Sinebrychoff Brewery in Helsinki. Founded here in 1819, it is the oldest brewery in the Nordic countries. Before modern vehicles, these horses were used to transport b**r from the brewery around Helsinki.🍺🍺

The overall army starts appearing in Central Helsinki, that means the city is about to flip into full Vappu mode.🎈🍾🎈🍾
You’ll notice it first in the overalls bright colors representing different universities and faculties covered in patches representing different events and lots of partying.🥳
