Jongunjoen Matkailu Nature travel company located in Eastern Finland offering authentic Finnish nature experiences. We are open all year round by appointment. Welcome to Jongunjoki!

We provide a range of accommodations and outdoor activities in a serene lakeside setting, far from the crowds of massive tourist destinations. Jongunjoki is located 32 kilometers north of Lieksa in the middle of the North Karelian landscape. Our company not only accommodates guests but also organizes programs and diverse nature experiences according to our customer's wishes. Anyone traveling with

a child, an elderly person, or an active adventurer, can come and enjoy nature with us. The proximity of the waterways encourages not only swimming and rowing but also canoeing, kayaking, packrafting, SUP boarding, fishing.... Jongunjoen Matkailu arranges equipment rental, guidance, and other necessary equipment on request. On land you can hike, bike, pick berries or mushrooms... In winter, skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, or ice fishing are the must-do activities. Guests can also just come to slow down and relax in the middle of a unique nature. Accommodation can be arranged either in the double rooms of the main building or in a separate, spacious cottage with amenities. In addition to accommodation, Jongunjoen Matkailu offers meals and transport from the nearest train station or airport. The beach sauna, smoke sauna and nordic bath are heated on request.

Due to high demand, new lakeside accommodation is available… for birds. 🐦🏨😉

Our little feathered friends have just received brand-new apartments. Summer visitors can enjoy lake- or forest-view units, while in winter these little homes will provide shelter for year-round residents during the colder months. 

Small actions can make a big difference for biodiversity — our human guests can also follow the activities of the winged residents or take part in increasing the number of new birdhouses during their stay.

Spring took over Jongunjoki. Long luminous days, water glowing blue, migratory birds returning, first flowers opening, and life rising all around us.

Kevät valtasi Jonjunjoen. Pitkät valoisat päivät, veden sininen hehku, muuttolintujen paluu, ensimmäiset kukat avautuvat, ja elämä herää kaikkialla ympärillämme.
