🇫🇷✨ From just outside Paris to the peaceful Åland Islands.

This lovely couple travelled by night train to Stockholm, followed by the ferry to Åland, looking for something different: nature, peace and authentic experiences.

Together with our wonderful guide Anna, they explored the beautiful Lemström Canal, drove through the scenic landscapes of Järsö, and admired the views from Badhusberget.

What did they love most?

💚 “The peace and quiet.”

Sometimes it’s not the famous attractions that leave the biggest impression, but the stillness, the fresh sea air, and the feeling of slowing down.

Before saying goodbye, they told Anna they were already planning to return to Åland—next time for a longer stay. ❤️

Today, Anna-Lena Groos had the pleasure of guiding a wonderful group of six on a full-day journey through the Åland Islands, ending with the unforgettable Silverskär Ch*****ne Experience. 🥂🇦🇽

Did you know that Åland has a unique connection to ch*****ne? In 2010, divers discovered a 19th-century shipwreck in the Åland archipelago containing perfectly preserved bottles of ch*****ne. The discovery became world-famous and inspired today’s exclusive ch*****ne experience at Silverskär, where guests can learn the fascinating story while enjoying a tasting in a beautiful island setting.

Sometimes a private tour is about more than seeing the sights. 💛

When Beth first contacted us, she told us that her grandfather, Johannes Jansson, was from Åland. She didn’t know exactly where on the islands he came from, but she wanted to experience Åland, see places such as Kastelholm Castle and the Bomarsund ruins, visit Eckerö, and of course enjoy Åland pancake—a tradition she continues herself every Christmas Eve.

Anna-Lena Groos had the pleasure of guiding Beth and her family on their private tour, sharing not only Åland’s history and beautiful places, but also local spots they might never have discovered on their own.

Afterwards, Beth wrote:

“We had a fantastic day with Anna-Lena touring Åland. She was very informative and accommodating. She took us to some local spots we would never have found. She was very entertaining, as well! She made our day a lot of fun! I don’t know precisely where in Åland my grandfather is from, but I got a very good sense of the islands and the community.”

✨ A day full of unexpected and memorable moments 🇦🇽

We were happy to welcome our guests to Åland and Janne - our wonderful guide spent the day with a lovely couple from Los Angeles. They have travelled to more than 200 places around the world, but what they value most are local stories and memorable encounters.

One of those moments happened in Mariehamn, where they suddenly spotted a beautiful red classic car from their hometown of Los Angeles. Even more amazingly, its owner had brought it to Åland himself while working as a pilot on that route. What are the odds? 🚗❤️

The day continued through Bomarsund, Notvikstornet and Geta, with a delicious perch lunch at Lolo’s Seaside Café in Snäckö. Stories were shared, friendships were made, and later their guide Janne even introduced them to a local fisherman and his boathouse.

At the end of the day, it wasn’t castles or museums they remembered most. It was the people they met, the stories they heard, the unexpected Los Angeles connection, the view from Notvikstornet, and a perfectly cooked perch fillet.

Sometimes the best part of travelling is simply meeting people and getting a glimpse into everyday life in a place. 💛

☀️ Another beautiful summer day exploring Åland!

Yesterday we welcomed guests from near and far – three visitors from California and two gentlemen from Canada – for a journey through Åland’s fascinating history and countryside.

We climbed up to Notvikstornet and wandered among the impressive ruins of Bomarsund Fortress.

Of course, we made time for coffee and traditional Åland pancake at Åland Distillery.

We also visited Jan-Karlsgården, strolled around Kastelholm Castle, and finished the day in Mariehamn with a stop at Gourmetbutiken to bring home some delicious Åland products.

It was a warm day, but a truly enjoyable one!

A warm welcome to Eric from Seattle, USA, who recently spent a day exploring Åland with our wonderful guide Janne! ☀️

Despite the windy weather, occasional rain, and temperatures of just 13–14°C, Eric embraced the adventure with a smile and explored Åland in short sleeves all day. 😊

Together they visited some of Åland’s most fascinating historical sites, including Kastelholm Castle and the Jan Karlsgården open-air museum. Although the museum buildings were closed, Janne brought the history to life through stories and local insights.

One of the great advantages of a private tour is the flexibility to adapt the day to the guest’s interests. Instead of rushing from place to place, they enjoyed a relaxed itinerary, a delicious slice of Åland pancake, beautiful scenery, and plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and discoveries along the way.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a lovely family from Australia and showing them the beauty of Åland. Together we explored the islands, local history, beautiful landscapes, and peaceful atmosphere that make Åland so special.
