🏊 Open Water Swimming – Swim the Arctic Circle 2026 in the Tornio River
🏊 2000 m – Saturday, 11 July 2026 at 14:00 Finnish time. Start in Juoksengi, Sweden.
🏊 3000 m – Sunday, 12 July 2026 at 00:05 Finnish time. Start in Juoksenki, Finland.
🏊 170 swimmers from more than 20 different countries will come to the Tornio River to push their limits. During the event, they will cross national borders, the Arctic Circle, and, in the night swim, even a time boundary. Everyone who completes the downstream swim in under 55 minutes will reach the finish line on the day before they started – Saturday! 🌎 This is possible because Sweden is one hour behind Finland. 🕛🇫🇮🕚🇸🇪
🥰 The event has a positive impact on the entire Tornio Valley on both sides of the Tornio River. Village associations from both Finland and Sweden, together with IF Polcirkeln, have been volunteering to organise this unique swimming competition since 2011.
