People often ask why Snow Igloo Park opens only later in winter 🧐

The reason is simple. The entire park is built from scratch in Levi every winter and depends completely on freezing temperatures.

The process starts with snowmaking. Using professional snowmaking equipment, our experienced snow-building team produces snow, then grinds, mixes and dries it to create the perfect building material. Once the snow is ready, construction begins. Giant molds are built, walls take shape, huge snow blocks are cut and moved into place, caves and tunnels are dug out, archways are carved, and ice blocks become bar counters and decorative features🧊🧊🧊

This combination of professional equipment and skilled craftsmanship is what brings Snow Igloo Park to life every winter.

The park usually opens around December 10, depending on weather conditions.

Before every husky safari in Levi, our guides always go through a full safety instruction with all guests 🐕‍🦺❄️

Driving a husky sled is an unforgettable experience - but also a real activity where teamwork, control, and safety matter.

Before the tour starts, guests learn:
✔️ How to brake correctly
✔️ How to keep a safe distance between sleds
✔️ How to help the dogs on uphill sections
✔️ What the guide’s hand signals mean
✔️ How to drive safely on the trail

Why is this important?
Because huskies are strong, motivated working dogs that love to run. A sled does not stop on its own, and the trail conditions in Lapland can change quickly depending on snow and terrain.

Good safety instructions help protect both guests and dogs, keep the group moving smoothly, and make the experience more enjoyable for everyone on the trail ✨

Even first-time drivers quickly learn the basics, and our guides are there throughout the safari to help and support the group.

A good safari is not about speed - it is about smooth teamwork between you and the dogs, enjoying the Arctic nature, and feeling confident on the trail.

Episode 5 - What do huskies do in the summer? ☀️🐾

Summer is getting closer here in Lapland - and life at the kennel changes with the season.

Without snow, the routines look different, but the dogs still stay active every day. More free running, more time outside, and a slower pace after the busy winter months.

Summer is the off-season for the kennel - a time for the huskies to rest, recover, and gather energy for the next Arctic winter ❄️🐕‍🦺

And while the dogs are preparing for winter again, you can already plan your own Lapland adventure ✨ Winter husky safari bookings in Levi are already open on our website:

Episode 4 - A morning at a husky kennel in Levi 🐾

People often see the safari itself - the snowy trails, excited huskies, and beautiful Lapland landscapes.
But long before guests arrive, the day has already started at the kennel.

🔸 Morning drinks
🔸 Preparing warm food
🔸 Cleaning kennels
🔸 Warming up the kota
🔸 Checking every harness and sled before the dogs are ready to run

With 45 huskies, every daily routine matters - and every dog has its own role in the team.

This is the side of husky life many visitors never get to see, but it is a big part of what makes the experience possible.

And yes… the excitement level in the kennel before a safari is very real - you can already hear it the moment you step out of the car 😄🐕‍🦺

Next episode - what do huskies actually do during the off-season? ☀️

Happy huskies mean one thing on safari - a lot of energy the moment you step on the sled 🐾

That excitement is exactly what makes husky safaris unforgettable - and also why listening carefully to your guide instructions matters so much.

One of the most common beginner mistakes?

Not pressing the brake firmly enough at the beginning 🛷

It sounds simple, but when a team of eager huskies is ready to run, one small mistake can quickly turn into a memorable start 😄

Before every safari, your guide will show you:

🛷 How to use the brake properly
⚖️ How to keep your balance on the sled
🏃When to help the dogs on uphill sections
🐕How to work together with your dog team
❤️How to keep both you and the dogs safe on the trail

The more you understand your role, the smoother the ride becomes - and the more you can simply enjoy the adventure.

Next episode - a typical morning at the kennel, when 45 huskies are ready for breakfast, cuddles, and another day on the trail 👀🐾

In our last post, we introduced Mari and shared why her small group safaris feel different. But there is one question our guests ask again and again - are the dogs happy? 🐾

The answer is something you can feel the moment you arrive.

🐾 Excited barking before a safari
👀 Bright eyes
🍖 Strong appetite
✨ Clean kennels
❤️ Daily care
💤 Rest days
🌲 Space to run, play, and simply be dogs

When the basics are done right, dogs thrive - and their excitement to run says everything ❤️

Behind the experiences we share are local people who truly live the Lapland way of life ❤️

One of them is Mari.

What started as a one month internship at a husky park in Köngäs turned into a life built around sled dogs, northern forests, and the rhythm of Arctic seasons.

After gaining experience in kennels across the north, Mari took the leap and started her own husky safari business in 2021 - built on courage, hard work, and genuine love for her dogs.

Today, her safaris are often fully booked - not by chance, but because guests feel the difference: small groups, genuine care for the dogs, and an approach where their wellbeing always comes first 🐶💫

Next winter, our guests can meet Mari and her dogs during a kennel visit, or head out on the trail together:

🔹Husky Kennel Visit & Cuddle with Huskies
🔹Husky Safari 5km Self-drive
🔹Husky Safari 10km Self-drive
