Our bamboo agroforestry initiative is looking strong.

After the wet season, we are now seeing fresh bamboo shoots coming through and we have also started harvesting dalo from the same system. Exciting to see this approach beginning to produce real results on the ground.

This is exactly why we believe in integrated regenerative systems that support livelihoods, strengthen local resilience, and build long term value from the land.

Pacific Ark is proud to be hosted by the Base bahay Foundation, Inc. in the Philippines.

This week, we worked directly with their Cement Bamboo Frame Technology (CBFT), including hands-on fabrication of prefabricated wall panels in their laboratory, which will now undergo structural testing.

We also visited operational bamboo processing facilities and active housing sites already delivering these systems, that are proven to be earthquake and cyclone resilient.

This is a proven, scalable solution.

Relevance for Fiji and the Pacific:
• Faster housing delivery
• Lower construction cost
• Climate-resilient systems
• Built from locally available materials
• Strong potential for skills and job creation

Pacific Ark is now focused on adapting and implementing these systems within Fiji, aligned with ongoing bamboo construction and value chain development.

We see a clear pathway for bamboo to play a leading role in addressing housing across the Pacific.

From Grassroots to Integrated Systems.

What started as simple volunteering programs, small community structures and initiatives, hands-on work has grown step by step into a broader, more structured set of services grounded in real needs on the ground.

Our work initially focused on practical delivery, farm management and implimentation, community builds, renovations, and small construction projects. From there, it naturally expanded into agroforestry systems, regenerative land management, and long-term stewardship of landscapes.

Through this work, bamboo emerged as one of several important pathways. Not as a standalone solution, but as part of an integrated system connecting construction, agroforestry, livelihoods, and climate resilience.

2025 was a year of consolidation and learning. Strengthening on-ground delivery, deepening community partnerships, and testing systems in real conditions.

2026 is about focus and ex*****on. Scaling what works, formalising systems, and progressing treatment, processing, and demonstration projects alongside our core services.

This evolution has not followed a rigid blueprint. It has been guided by real conditions on the ground, responding to land, weather, community priorities, and opportunity as it arises.

Our approach combines hands-on, site-based experience with professional engineering and infrastructure management expertise. That discipline underpins how we plan and deliver projects for communities, landowners, and forward-thinking resort and development partners.

As part of this next phase, Pacific Ark is being strengthened through two clear arms.

Pacific Ark Construction - delivers commercial, construction, and land-based services.
Pacific Ark Foundation - supports charitable, community-focused work, training, and regenerative development.

A more focused bamboo construction and processing pathway is now taking shape within this broader system. More to share as these capabilities continue to develop.

From forest to market! 🌿 Our team just completed our first bamboo market stall in partnership with Da Roko settlement!

This project took us through every step of the bamboo value chain—harvesting, treating, processing, and carpentry.

It wasn’t easy, but the result is a sustainable, durable structure we’re all proud of! Stay tuned for our next project: a bamboo playground for Urata Primary School!.
