Leadership Fiji 2026 Advocacy Challenge: Team Tabua plants 200 mangrove seedlings to celebrate International Day for Women in Maritime

On Saturday 30 May 2026, the Leadership Fiji (LF) 2026 Team Tabua gathered along the foreshore with friends and family to plant mangrove seedlings as part of their Advocacy Challenge on International Day for Women in Maritime.

The group gathered along the foreshore to plant 200 mangrove seedlings.

Also present were Team Tabua's buddies from the LF2026 cohort showing their support.

Team Tabua stated that each mangrove seedling is planted in support of the women in the maritime industry. The mangroves represent resilience and protection, further reflecting the importance of women in the maritime industry.

Ministry of Forestry representative, Arieta Kaseiono, says that what took place not only encourages and empowers women in the maritime industry but also is a big step towards fighting climate change.

World International Day of Women in Maritime was celebrated on 18th May.

25 years of shaping leaders for Fiji, and today we honour the voices that carried us through even the quietest seasons.

During our 20th anniversary, COVID-19 meant no big gatherings, no fanfare and no stage lights. But our Alumni still showed up with heart. They shared reflections that captured the essence of Leadership Fiji: growth, courage, connection and service.

Many of these Alumni have since moved on to new opportunities and new callings.

Isn’t it powerful that we captured their reflections back then? Here is a snapshot of who they were at the time, and their reflections of the impact that Leadership Fiji had on them.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we bring their words back to the fore. Their journeys continue, and so does ours.

Stay tuned as we share our Alumni stories and reflections throughout the year.
