Seul au milieu de la mer, l’équipage du catamaran aux voiles synthétiques multicolores trace sa route en direction de la baie d’Étretat à l’unique force du vent.
Cinq siècles auparavant, c’est après avoir traversé l’océan à bord d’une caraque normande, déjà à la seule force du vent dans des voiles de lin et de chanvre, que le Florentin Giovanni da Verrazzano a atteint la baie de la future New-York pour le compte du roi de France, François 1er.
C’était, tout comme aujourd’hui, un 17 avril, celui de l’an 1524.
Alone in the middle of the sea, the crew of the catamaran with colorful synthetic sails charts its course towards the bay of Étretat using only the force of the wind.
Five centuries earlier, after crossing the ocean aboard a Norman carrack, propelled solely by the wind in his linen and h**p sails, the Florentine Giovanni da Verrazzano reached the bay of what would become New York on behalf of the King of France, Francis I.
It was, just like today, April 17th, the year 1524.
