Mountain Sessions

Mountain Sessions Mountain professionals operating out of the central Pyrenees. We specialise in hiking, trekking, climbing and mountain biking in our local area and beyond.

MOUNTAIN SESSIONS is based on a deep passion and love for the mountains and nature. We spend our lives striving to reach those perfect moments that combine nature and humans. A shared cup of tea early in the morning before the final assent, a hug at the summit, the excitment before a journey into the unkown, the relaxation of hot springs, the sense of achievment after cycling over that final pass

or the reward nature reseves you everytime when you make the effort. MOUNTAIN SESSIONS is about making these things happen, about experiencing the overwhelming power of the great outdoors and being able to share it. The Pyrenees is the ulimate undiscovered mountain destination of Europe. Great climbers like Chris Sharma loves them so much he moved here, great cyclists like Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome train here and well traveled hikers are inspired by these unique mountains. Join us and experience what they know, and what the masses have yet to discover. If you're into cycling, hiking or mountain biking, bouldering, sports climbing or trad, then you're into the Pyrenees. We have stong family ties to these mountains and have lived here for as long as we dare to remember. It's not a suprise then that after many years growing up and working in these beautiful mountains that we are specialists of the local area. The Pyrenees are undoubtedly one of the least know mountain ranges in Europe but has nothing to envie of it's big sister the Alps. Stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, the Pyrenees is a mountain of contrast, warmth and authenticity. Our house "La Bigourdane" and our barn "Le Hautacam" are a perfect base camp to come back to after a day out in the mountains. We have been rated three star *** by Gite de France and you will find everything you need here. You can rent just the "La Bigourdane" which sleeps six people comfortably or just "Le Hautacam" which sleeps four people comfortably. You can also rent both for a total capacity of ten! This is perfect for groups or large families. You can come and stay with a fully catered option or go it alone and opt for self catering. Whatever option you choose, and wether it be for a long or short period of time, you wont be disapointed with the welcome our house has to offer. http://instagram.com/mtn_sessions

Voilà ma sorti seule, a méditer à me faire plaisir. Un plaisir que je partagera avec volonté.

The Sierra de Guara is the perfect place to go for an early season session. You can, hike, bike or rock climb here. The warm climate can be a little too much in the summer but at this time of year, it's perfect. There are fewer people too which just adds to the enjoyment of the region even better. The canyons are spectacular, the cheese and wine are locally made and good. Alquezar, the medieval city, is a must-see. It sits on top of a high cliff, has wonderful hikes around it and the views from the cafe terraces are spectacular.

A little recap of my trek to the Encantats for Pyrenean Odysseys. It was a committing trip with some very difficult weather conditions to deal with. Lots of snow, lots of cold, lots sun and lots of fun. This trek is a real challenge that will give you a real sense of achievement by the end.

The smog of the mountains. For the vast majority of the time, the mountains are a haven for clean air. However, during the winter period, the farmers practice a strange ritual of burning the side of the mountain. Despite extensive studies showing that this does not favour grass regeneration or w**d destruction, they continue with the blessing of the state. A bizarre activity in the name of tradition in a time where clean air has become a rare commodity.

Really moody skies above the Cirque de Gavarnie in the Pyrénées. The winter has been long and the sun has been hiding for most of it. Here we got a brief glimpse of the light before the clouds came in again. Despite the harsh winter conditions the trips to the mountains this winter have been great and everyone seems to come back happy.
