☀️Heatwave Heaven.. 😎
. but not for Fishing!🎣
This week, we welcomed Brad, Sam, and Sam’s dad to the Retreat Fishery for what turned out to be a memorable, if challenging, session.
The weather was absolutely glorious, but it arrived with force. The cool, wet conditions of previous weeks quickly became a distant memory as temperatures soared almost overnight, reaching highs of 35°C 🌡🔥 It was like someone had flicked a switch. Unfortunately for the lads, the fishing reflected the sudden change, with bites proving incredibly slow and hard to come by throughout the week.
Brad was first off the mark with an outstanding capture in the shape of Psycho Sid, one of the fishery’s prized grass carp, weighing in at an impressive 56lb. To make the catch even more special, it was also a new personal best. Congratulations, Brad 👏🎣 you worked hard for that one and thoroughly deserved it.
Sam’s patience was finally rewarded on Wednesday afternoon when he landed his first fish of the trip: a stunning 38lb 8oz mirror carp 🙌🎣Even better, it was his first-ever capture on a Zig Rig setup, making the moment one to remember. Well done, Sam. Persistence paid off in style 😎
The lads employed a combination of bottom baits fished washing-line style alongside Zig presentations in an effort to locate feeding fish in the extreme temperatures. There were also a couple of losses along the way, highlighting just how tough conditions were.
Despite the fish not quite playing ball, the three of them enjoyed a fantastic week together, leaving the Retreat Fishery with plenty of great memories, an impressive tan 🥵 and hopes of returning in the future to chase some serious new PBs.
It has been a pleasure having you all here, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon 💚
