Last week I had a lovely day with Pam & MJ. MJ had a great Uncle in the 101st who jumped on DDay. He was injured around Carentan and made it back home eventually.

Last week, I had the pleasure of spending 2 days with Susan & Jack, going through the US and British sectors.
And even though it was a really busy weekend in Normandy, we managed to avoid most of the crowds, plus we were lucky enough to have the parking gods on our side😁

Yesterday I had a lovely morning with the Wallaces. Chris's father was a navigator on a bomber and when his plane crashed over Germany, he was made a prisoner of war for 2 years. He talked and wrote about his experience so Chris was able to tell me lots of fascinating stories.

A couple of days ago I spent a lovely day guiding the Hurst. Both Lynne and Fred's father fought during WWII but like many veterans they didn't talk about the war.
To their dismay they knew very little of their time fighting.

Several days ago I had a lovely day with the Foltz. Patty's father was an essential worker during the war as he worked for the railroads. Tom's father was in the Army and he was stationed in Germany near the end of the war and his mother was born in Canada, she later became a US citizen and joined the US Army Nurse Corps.

2 days ago I had a great day with the Dillons, they had so much knowledge that it was more a 6 hour conversation than a guided tour 😁 Utah beach wasn't originally a part of the program but Dave served in the 4th Infantry in Irak so I had to take him there!

Last Saturday I spent the day with the Nelsons, and we had a wonderful day. Carolyne was kind enough to share with me her grandfather's story who was a Chaplain in the Pacific theatre, her grandfather officiated at Ernie Pyle's funeral who was with his division when he was killed on April 18 1945.
