June brings the longest days of the year to the Basque Country: the solstice hits on the 21st, and honestly? We milk every second of daylight. Lunch stretches into afternoon, afternoon melts into apéro, apéro becomes dinner, dinner becomes drinks by the sea while the sky turns pink, orange, gold…
There's no rush! This is what summer should feel like: long, lazy and luminous. Where every evening feels like a celebration just because the sun refuses to set! ☀️

Edmond Rostand didn't just write Cyrano, he built a theatrical masterpiece in his own garden! 🌸

The 15-hectare gardens of Musée Arnaga, classified as “Remarkable Gardens”, awaken in spring with rare elegance, between classical rigour and poetic freedom. In spring, the flower arrangements are designed so each window of the villa frames a different plant tableau! May is when everything blooms at once: French formal gardens meet English parkland. Roses, irises, and spring bulbs in full colour… The whole thing was designed like a stage set: dramatic, romantic, utterly over-the-top in the best way.

And honestly? Standing there surrounded by flowers with the Pyrenees in the background feels like being inside a painting! 🎨 Who's ready for some serious garden envy?

The Basque Country in May is what spring's supposed to feel like: warm sun, cool breeze, long days that stretch forever. Perfect for lazy lunches on seaside terraces, coastal walks without melting, and evening apéros that last until sunset (which isn't until 9pm, by the way)!

The beaches aren't packed yet, the trails are gorgeous and the water's still bracing but swimmable if you're brave. It's that sweet spot before summer kicks off: all the joy, half the chaos!

Sea and mountains in one glance: that's the Basque Country superpower! ⛰️🌊

La Rhune peaks at 905 metres, high enough for proper views and gentle enough for a family adventure. Take the vintage rack railway (it's been chugging up since 1924) or hike if you're feeling energetic.

At the top? Spain on one side, France on the other, the Atlantic glittering in the distance. Wild pottok horses grazing like they own the place… Because, well, they do!
April weather's perfect for this. Cool air, clear skies, fewer people. Just remember: stick to marked trails, respect the wildlife, and leave nothing behind but footprints!

🐑 In French we don’t say “baaa”, we say “bêêê” !

Sheep’s milk cheeses that are made in the Basque mountains just have a little... "je ne sais quoi" that makes them unique. ✨

The freedom, the wide-open-spaces, the shepherd and shepherdess care, the age-old pastoral practices passed down over many generations: you can taste it all within the first bite of Ossau-Iraty! 🧀 🤤

Here, pastoralism is a way of life. It's a symbol of the deep-rooted relationship between people, Pyrénées mountains and respect for our fragile and wild nature! 💚

Step 1️⃣ : start at the port, fishermen unloading the morning catch, boats bobbing and that salty air that wakes you right up

Step 2️⃣ : Wander the cobbled streets. Pop into the church where Louis XIV got married (casual flex 😎) and grab lunch at a restaurant near the covered market. Fresh fish grilled to perfection, local cheese, maybe a glass of txakoli? Yes please!

Step 3️⃣ : afternoon? Stroll the beach promenade. The bay's sheltered, so even winter feels gentle here. As the sun sets, find a terrace on the Place Louis XIV and watch the sky turn pink over the Pyrenees. 💕

April in the Basque Country? Nature doesn't wait for permission! 🌸
While you're still in woolly jumpers, our hillsides are exploding with wild flowers. Yellow gorse everywhere, green so bright it almost hurts to look at. 💚
The coastal paths? Absolutely stunning right now. That fresh spring light, the smell of earth waking up, views that go on forever… Grab your walking boots, pack a picnic, and let the landscape do its magic. Spring here doesn't tiptoe in, It bursts through the door singing!

Saturday mornings at Les Halles hit differently! 🧀

The smell gets you first: aged sheep's cheese, fresh bread and “jambon” from the mountains. Then the noise: vendors calling out, locals arguing (affectionately) about which stall does the best piment d'Espelette… This place is where Biarritz actually shops! Grab an Ossau-Iraty wedge, some “jambon de Bayonne”, a bottle of Irouléguy the vendor insists you must try, then find a spot on the steps outside and people-watch like a proper local. 👀

Supporting small producers? That's responsible tourism that tastes incredible. 💚
