Sunrise at Château de Belet feels almost unreal.
The morning light slowly rolls across the stone walls while the great lime tree comes alive above you — millions of honeybees gathering nectar in full bloom, filling the air with the soft hum of summer and the sweet perfume of honey and flowers. Sitting beneath it with a coffee in hand, surrounded by nothing but birdsong, warm light, and centuries of history… it is one of the great pleasures of early season in Dordogne.
And then there is the food.
Chef Denis this early season has been absolutely magnificent — elegant, seasonal, deeply French, and perfectly matched to long countryside evenings and Saint-Émilion wines.
