🧐 Did you know? In France, tourism is a highly regulated industry. But here’s the catch: anyone with a van, a laptop, and a great smile can list a tour online.
Unfortunately, thousands of travelers book their dream trip every year without realizing they are completely unprotected if things go wrong.
Before you book your next French W**e Tour, check these 3 criteria:
🚗 1. The "Ghost" Driver: Driving tourists for money in France requires a professional VTC license or a transport capacity certificate. If your driver is using a personal car or lacks this certification, their insurance is invalid. In the event of an accident, you are not covered.
🛑 2. The Illegal Package: Want to book a hassle-free day that bundles transport, lunch, and estate visits? By French law, only fully registered and bonded Travel Agencies (registered with Atout France) are allowed to sell bundled packages. This registration requires a massive financial guarantee to protect your money if the operator goes bust or cancels.
🩹 3. The Insurance Blindspot: What if your guide forgets a severe allergy you reported, or you suffer heatstroke due to poor tour planning? A standard insurance doesn’t cover this. Professional guides must carry a specific professional Indemnity Insurance (RC Pro) to protect you on the ground.
⚠️ And no, TripAdvisor doesn't check!
Platforms like TripAdvisor, Viator, or Airbnb are digital marketplaces, not travel agencies. They do NOT verify licenses, registrations, or specific insurance. A 5-star rating online does not equal legal compliance.
Travel with peace of mind. ✨
