Combining wine and running? Challenge accepted! Welcome to the Marathon des châteaux du Médoc that is coming back on Septembre 6! 🤭

Here, it’s all about good vibes, fine wine, and laughing moments in costume. Every year, this legendary event brings together thousands of runners from all over the world for 42 km of pure fun through the Médoc vineyards.

What’s on the menu? Refuelling stations… with a gourmet twist: wine tastings, oysters, cheese, live music and all kinds of entertainment. 🍷

So throw on your best costume (this year’s theme is The Sea), stretch those legs, and enjoy every single step! 😎

ℹ️ Alcohol abuse is a health hazard. Drink in moderation.

What better way to explore Bordeaux than by bike? 🚲

We’ve cooked up a perfect little cycling route just for you 👇

1️⃣ Starting point: Porte de Bourgogne 👉 grab a bike and head straight across the Pont de Pierre. It’s the first bridge to connect both sides of the city, built back in 1822.

2️⃣ Once on the right bank, cruise along the quays with unbeatable views of Bordeaux left bank. Hair in the wind, of course. 🤩

3️⃣ Time for a well-deserved break at DARWIN, l’Eco-Système: the perfect spot to wander, shop responsibly or just chill in an eco-friendly café. 🌱

4️⃣ To cross the Garonne again, head for the Chaban Delmas Bridge and its giant pylons. Fun fact: their colors change depending on the tides. 💡

5️⃣ Finish in style by riding along the left bank quays: green spaces, shops, cafés, and views of gems like the iconic Saint-Michel spire.

Do you recognize this street? 🔎

Here are some clues to help you resolve our riddle 👇

🔹 It is one of the largest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe, with 1250 meters.
🔹 It has been almost entirely pedestrianized since 1984 and it is easily accessible by tram with a dedicated station.
🔹 It runs from Place de la Comédie to Place de la Victoire and divides Bordeaux into two parts.

If an idea pops up, let us know your thoughts in the comment section. 🤔

How to speak as a true local in Bordeaux? 😎

1️⃣ ‘gavé bien’
🤓You can translate it as ‘it’s so cool’ -’gavé’ alone meaning ‘a lot’, ‘very’ or ‘too much’
🧑‍🏫 How to use it? If you want to say that Place de la Bourse is stunning, you might say that it is ‘gavé belle’.

2️⃣ ‘ça daille’
🤓 You can translate it as ‘it’s rubbish’
🧑‍🏫 How to use it? If you want to say that the weather is rainy tomorrow, you might say that it is raining tomorrow, ‘ça daille’.

3️⃣ ‘une poche’
🤓 You can translate it as ‘a shopping bag’
🧑‍🏫 How to use it? If you’re at a grocery shop and the cashier asks if you need a ‘poche’, you might answer that you’re fine, you already have a ‘poche’ with you.

4️⃣ Last but not least: ‘une chocolatine’
🤓 You cannot translate it as a chocolatine is a chocolatine.
🧑‍🏫 How to use it? The proper way to use it is by saying that in Bordeaux, we say ‘chocolatine’ and not ‘pain au chocolat’. It’s not the same thing here. 🤭

In Bordeaux, you chill out in the Jardin Public every sunday. Everyone knows it. 😎

To brag a little about that amazing garden, here are 5 facts you probably didn’t know about it:

1️⃣ It is the oldest green space of Bordeaux.

2️⃣ It was a royal garden before becoming a public park in 1746.

3️⃣ It was first designed in a French style before being transformed into an English-style garden.

4️⃣ 2 trees are labelled “remarkable tree”: a 31-meter Mexican swamp cypress and a 38-meter pecan tree which is the highest of Jardin Public!

5️⃣ Today, it is known as the “green lung” of Bordeaux and you can find a river, a playing area, a botanical garden, a small theater for children and the entrance of the Museum of Bordeaux.

Skate in the city 🛹

Bordeaux is a skate-friendly city that is bursting with various iconic areas to try some skateboard tricks. Did you know that we hosted the Olympic athletes’ training sessions in 2014? 😎

Here are the best spots to skate in Bordeaux (or only watch people do their figures) 👇

✨The Chartrons skatepark: obviously the most famous which was renovated in 2022

🫶 Bordeaux Quays: an 8km accessible route with a smooth surface, perfect for beginners!

🧑‍🏫 The Zoom Skatepark: a 300m2 indoor skatepark for every level where you can also take a lesson with a professional

😍 Darwin which hosts the biggest indoor skateboarding park in Bordeaux and where every riding sport blends (skateboard, roller, BMX…)

The mysterious story of Grosse Cloche 🔔

This monument is undoubtedly one of the most iconic in our city. However only a few people are aware of its story. The medieval belfry, a remnant of the city ramparts, was not just a simple bell. ✨

During the 18th century, it also sheltered a prison for Bordeaux unruly people. Indeed, those who did not respect curfews or caused disturbances were locked up in its dungeon. 🤭

Did you know about that? 🤓

In the mood for fresh water? 🌊

To escape the heat in Summer and explore a new place while disconnecting from our phones and screens, we never say no to a trip to the Hourtin lake. 😎

🏖️ Supervised beaches to let the kids play with no stress
🪁 Aquatic activities such as pedal boats, kitesurf or fly-way
🌲 Walking trails surrounded by pine trees around the lake
🥪 Picnic areas to enjoy local specialties

This is the best family-friendly spot! ✨

West coast getaway 💙

Located between Le Canon and La Vigne’s harbor, L’Herbe village is a small paradise often designated as the most mesmerizing place of the Cap Ferret peninsula. And it’s easy to see why. 😍

Here, in this charming oyster-farming village, the authenticity blends with a peaceful and picturesque atmosphere. 🌊

ℹ️ To enjoy L’Herbe, take the regional bus 412 from Gare Saint-Jean train station to “Dune de l’Herbe” station. One way costs €2.50 and the round trip is €4.50.
