We are able to taste not only the w**e of the different grape varieties (and then return it to the vine but also the grapes at this special period just before the grapes are picked. time in the Medoc started full swing with the 1st september - 1 week before record breaking last year 2025. **eguidebordeaux

photo taken this morning on school run ( was late abd its only day 2)- slowed down when it was soooo hot all summer. Now benefitting from some long awaited rain to swell the berries and cooler autumn sunshine to finish the ripening. ( still sunny starts 15 °C by the end of the day 32 - this big diurnal range helps to thin and ripen the skins to nake the tannins silky abd oreserves freshness). Im so amazed and in awe of the small bonsai tree ninjas that are the vines here in this magical region of Bordeaux. =survival **eguidebordeaux

Recap of in Bordeaux today. With successive heat waves ripening slowed so itll be around the same as last year for most. Young merlot vines are beung picked tomorrow at Figeac which is always early like Pomerol. Bit of rain will help the vines over the finishing line. I would think that once they start the merlots theyll just keep on going with the cabs like last year. Cant believe how the vines are so resilient and adapt. Like little ninjas to hunt down tge water. Clay helps abd will save the day with global warming....look for my more indepth blog piece on my wordpress blog....about to wtite it **eguidebordeaux
